Raptors just obliterating every possible dynasty team on the offensive, from the Showtime Lakers to Michael's Bulls.

Worst Defences

1999-2000 Los Angeles Clippers: 110.1
1982-1983 Dallas Mavericks: 109.8
2002-2003 Golden State Warriors: 109.5
2001-2002 Houston Rockets: 108.6
2000-2001 Washington Wizards: 107.8

Now, this is not funny, almost 6 points worse than the worst ever defence.

Now, I don't know which record they'll beat, but I have a feeling one of the 2 records will fall. The only other team to have the best offence and the worst defence at the same time were the 1981-1982 Denver Nuggets (that team won 42 games).

Jay Triano's "protect the house" defence sure ain't working. I thought Jay wanted the Raps to be a top ten defence?

Sigh i knew from the title it would be something like this. Hey SS could you put up a stat from the start of the season Opponents:
1) PER
2) FG%

but in regards to position? not sure if you can do this, I am just curious to see the defense from this angle.

So SS, with where our offense is, where would we need to bring our dRtg to in order to win say, 50 games? 106?

Sheesh... Shows what you know CC - they are top ten. Look, they're at the top of Supersub's list. That must be good!

With the same level of offence, they'd need to bring the DRtg down to 114.4 to get to 50 wins.

Awesome. So this team is simultaneously better than the Showtime Lakers and worse than the 1990 Nuggets.

ugh, well 1 out of 2 aint bad. Maybe I'm a pessimist but I feel we're going to slide further from the top of the offensive cat. than move up the defensive rankings. Internalizing in my mind I can find it easier to explain away such positive variance on a couple of players - particularly Bargs insane 3pt%, Bosh's insane FTA/FGA stat than to explain away the reverse side ..... that a cross section of 3pt shooters and glass crashers on 7 teams aren't just running hot vs us.

I'm pretty sure the opponents PPG of 120 will not last or else, the Raptors are doomed, don't see us outscoring many opponents if that is the case.

Wow that's truly staggering. I don't think the team will stay at that level in either category, but it's certainly something to watch.

Edit: Just noticed last year's Blazers squad on the offense list. Were they really that good?

I knew I was watching history when Matt Bonner trotted in from the 3 point line for an uncontested dunk.

What's amazing is that our pace is pretty average, so it's not like our guys are too tired to defend. We also aren't sporting a novelty line-up with undersized forwards or anything.

The most disturbing thing is that you can't blame any of this on 9 new faces. It doesn't take chemistry to block a guy out or chase a loose ball. It doesn't take chemistry to stay in front of your man. I don't see how it can get better without a change to the starting line-up.

The offense can get better, I believe. Guys like Antoine Wright need to be reigned in. If he's going to put the ball on the floor it should be to create an open look for a teammate. DeRozan looks like he's out of synch with Jose. Belinelli needs more consistent playing time. I got the feeling he wouldn't have played at all last night if Wright hadn't significantly crapped the bed on both sides of the floor.

...which, as you might notice, would still leave us as one of the five worst defensive teams of the shot clock era.

I think everyone misunderstood Triano's "protect this house" philosophy. Last year, Chris Bosh's house was robbed three times. So far, he has yet to experience a break-in since he purchased a Zone Alarm security system. Kudos Chris.
