OT- West May Be Included in Captain Jack Deal For Cavs

Post#1 » by zilby » Sat Nov 14, 2009 9:42 pm

If the Cavaliers and Warriors eventually work out a deal involving Stephen Jackson, Delonte West is expected to be included in the trade as well.

West doesn't appear to have a future in Cleveland in the wake of his continued off-court issues.

Marc Stein of ESPN.com reports that Golden State isn't necessarily against acquiring West in a trade that allows them to get rid of Jackson.

West is owed $4.5 million next season, but can be bought out for $500,000 if he's waived by Aug. 2, 2010.

Wouldn't this defeat the purpose of trading Jackson? I thought it was because he was a distraction to the team. So why would they trade for another distraction.

The Warriors aren't planning to keep West, they're going to waive him and I believe all they just want to do right now is get rid of Stephen Jackson. What a way to start off his NBA career, I feel bad for Stephen Curry.

Only $500,000 of the final season of his contract is guaranteed if he gets waived by Aug. 2, 2010. So basically he is an expiring contract.

I like Delonte more; Jackson has turned from a solid role player to ego-driven chucker

Jackson would be good on the Cavs, I think Shaq would keep his ego in check and LeBron will get the scorer that they've been trying to get next to LeBron for a while now.

Cavs will improve monumentally with Jackson, to the point where they might be favourites if he gels.

Isn't Cleveland over the cap with the Jax contract?

Stephen Jackson and Lebron? Not a good fit IMO. CP3 on the other hand would look beautiful besides Lebron (no homo).

All teams are over cap now except OKC.

As for Lux Tax, Cleve is 5th with $82.5 million so far.

So what the heck difference does Jackson make? they are already paying $14 million in taxes so far - need to keep LeBron happy

As for Jackson - Tim Duncan once called him the best teammate that he ever had. That is a powerful statement when you consider Duncan's teammates.

West would actually fit in well with the Warriors. He can guard both pg's and sg's, so he would compliment Ellis and Curry.

Might be a good trade for GSW. West is actually a good player and is young enough to stay around for a while(given that he gets his head in gear)
