Colangelo is good at understanding how to manipulate the system to give a team an advantage but is not good at talent assessment. He also doesn't understand the big picture and how to set up a team for success down the road.
He has never had a team that needs (just a bit more to get over the hump) but he acts like this is the situation every year and blows his load on the short term. This is either a lack of understanding the best way to do his job...or he is just looking for immediate results so he can guarantee his own paycheck.
