Chris Bosh Sign and Trade Ideas
At this point everyone here should know that Bosh may not return next season. If you want him to return or not should not be the focus of the discussion, but instead we should start coming up with a few sign and trade possibility's that will be available to the Raptors.
As Mods we have also noticed an increase of threads involving a Bosh sign and trade so instead of moving them all to the trade board we have decided to make one thread where everything on a sign and trade can be merged.
Please keep the sign and trade deals as realistic as possible because this could turn into a very real situation in a few months.
Again, this thread is not about if you want to keep him or not but simply about what we could get for him if he does decide he wants to leave.
So who wants to come up with the first deal?
Have fun!

Re: Chris Bosh Sign and Trade Ideas
I'm guessing the deal will be
Miami gets
Bosh 126 mil S&T
Toronto gets
Toronto 2010 1st
Miami 2010 1st (I could see them squeezing us and making it the 2011 pick, though)
James Jones
Daequon Cook
TPE
Miami gives 2 picks but also clears 4 mil in capspace. We can possibly package our two 14-20 picks into a top 10 one or just pick two players.

Re: Chris Bosh Sign and Trade Ideas
Question, since it might be the best place to put it, how does the salary cap come into effect for sign and trades?
Let's say Bosh decides in the off-season he's opting out of his current contract and will re-sign with TOR for him to get his $ and for them to get something in return, and he wants to go to NY or Mia or Dallas or w/ever. -- Does the other team now need to match his salary in terms of contracts?
Because the Rashard Lewis to Orl deal didn't have much coming back from what I can recall.....

Doesn't matter if the team has enough cap space

Yep. Same reason Clippers could take Camby's 10 mil contract for a 2nd. 125% rule only comes into play if you go over the cap.

If it's a team under the cap, like Miami, then technically, they don't have to send anything back, except maybe picks to entice Toronto into doing the S&T and please Bosh. Toronto also gets a TPE, which is an asset in itself.
If it's team over the cap, like Dallas, then they have to send back salaries matching 125% + $100,000 of Bosh's salary.

To Portland for re-signed Greg Oden (BC takes a chance on him)
To Oklahoma City for Thabo or Harden and Jeff Green
To Miami for Pat Riley's lawnmower (he always seems to fleece us)

Re: Chris Bosh Sign and Trade Ideas
I'm thinking something surrounding OKC and Jeff Green (hopefully Russell Westbrook though). I can see Chris being smart enough to realize being second fiddle to KD and winning games at a prolific pace would not be that bad. To me, Jeff Green is not enough though, he's not even close to Chris' level, more of a role player imo. Westbrook is that point guard that could reak havoc in the East at the level of Rose and Rondo imo.

Can someone give the reasoning for teams way under the cap (Miami) to S&T rather than outright sign him? Thx.

No way we could take Jeff Green and Westbrook from them. I'd be surprised if could even get Westbrook alone

I'm assuming to get Bosh those extra dollars/years/security that we alone can give. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Chris Bosh Sign and Trade Ideas
here are my ideas:
1) Bosh for Gasol or Bynum: if lakers dont win the championship
2) Bosh for Noah + Hinrich + James Johnson: Sign Wade/other max, keep Deng, draft C with their pick
3) Bosh for Aldridge + Fernandez/Bayless + Pryzbilla: Expiring + young players, dont like the fit though
4) Bosh for Deng + 2010 1st round Pick (Pattrick Patterson/Greg Monroe): Happen before they could sign the pick on july 1st
5) Bosh for Scola + Jeffires + Brooks + New Yorks Pick in deal 1.
then Calderon for Battier + Filler in deal 2: 2 part deal to make it work.
6) Bosh + Hedo/Calderon for Lee + Curry + Gallo: Save 2010 money + get Bosh
7) Bosh + Jack? for Green + Westbrook?: Likely too much but you never know
8) Bosh to POR
Aldridge + Deng + Pryz to TOR
Hedo + Bayless/Fernandez to CHI
9) Bosh for Deng + Noah: Offered at the deadline with no security of Bosh staying so theyd get Bosh, use their draft pick on a C and use JJ as Dengs replacement and clear his contract
10) Bosh + Hedo for Deng + Noah + Hinrich: Fill SF position with someone who compliments Rose/Max SG nicely and get Bosh and again use their pick on a C
i like getting Noah the best and if we get Deng its icing on the cake. They offered it at the deadline so i like that general idea and they offered it with NO security of Bosh staying. So they can draft Aldrich + get Bosh and keep room for a max FA.
Rose
Wade
Hedo
Bosh
Aldrich
i would then ship Kirk out for Shannon Brown (S&T) + Sasha Vujacic and have.
Jack/Calderon/Banks
Derozan/Brown/Belinelli
Deng/Weems/Sasha
Bargnani/Evans
Noah/Johnson/Pittman(2nd rounder)
pretty solid defensively which is something new.

Bosh would rather ask for a sign and trade because we can offer him more $$ than any other team. 30 million more, I believe.

Re: Chris Bosh Sign and Trade Ideas
heres the truth.
1) We need CB to get something back
2) Bosh needs us to get extra 30 million and that extra year
so i think well get a good return.

1) Bosh Signed for the Maximum Contract and Traded to MIA along with Calderon for:
TOR 2010 1st round pick
MIA 2010 1st round pick
Mario Chalmers
Daequan Cook
TPE
2) Bosh Signed for Maximum Contract and Traded to OKC with Belinelli for:
Jeff Green
2010 1st Round Pick
Eric Maynor
Thabo Sefolosha
3) Bosh Signed for the Maximum Contract and Traded with Calderon and Belinelli for
A Signed and Traded David Lee
Eddy Curry
Wilson Chandler
2011 2nd Round Pick
Personally I would HATE to see CB4 leave but if it comes down to it--I prefer scenerio number 3.
We get a legit big man to put next to Bargs and a good SF in Chandler along with money in 2011. The only problem will be to somehow get rid of Turk's contract

If some people with a bit more NBA insight could enlighten us, what exactly is a realistic return to expect? Some people on here (mostly on the general board) have been saying that we don't really have leverage in our negotiations for Bosh. I know Minny got Al Jeff and garbage for Garnett in a TRADE and not a sign and trade, so is it realistic to expect much less?
Educate, please.

Lee is a legit big man? Since when? He only works if you have a defensive bruiser at the other position down low.
You can't put him next to Andrea. How many ways can you say disaster?

Re: Chris Bosh Sign and Trade Ideas
We're not going to get better talent back for Bosh so settling for lesser pieces to add to the collection of overpaid misfits we already have would pretty much bury us for the next 3-4 years. I'd much rather we use Bosh to get picks and gain flexibility at this point - that means using him to dump Hedo's contract. I think Houston is one of the few teams that can accommodate that. I suggested this in multiple other threads but something like Bosh and Hedo to Rockets for Ariza, Battier, Jefferies, Hayes, Andersen and the Knicks' picks works. We start rebuilding right with a core of Bargnani, Derozan, Jack etc., a couple of potential lottery picks over the next 2 years, and a ton of cap flexibility going forward. The Rockets add Bosh and Hedo to a core of Yao, Martin, Brooks, Scola, Hill, Budinger and their lottery pick this year.

I like the way you're thinking. Imo OKC is one of if not the best trading partners we can hope for when it comes to trading Bosh, they've got a glut of young talent we can rebuild on the fly and still remain competitive in the eastern conference. I also wouldn't mind doing a deal with Portland as well.
