"Did he just say that?": Media Quote Thread

Post#1 » by The59Sound » Thu Jan 31, 2013 2:33 pm

I thought it might be fun to have a thread about funny and/or ridiculous quotes Jazz players, coaches, or front office folks give to the media.

Starting us off:

Al Jefferson wrote:(Re: 45-point loss) Don’t know what you’re talking about. ... I was watching Monday Night Raw.

Al Jefferson wrote:I don’t remember too many times when Paul have a great game and we lose. I have great games all the time and we still might lose.
R-DAWG wrote:Look guys, no matter what happens we know Fegan is a man of his word and Dwight Howard doesn't change his mind once he makes a decision.

:o

Well, defense and getting his teammates easy looks aren't part of his game; so technically, he was right.

One of these days I'm going to look up the curriculum for that Computer Science program at DePaul.

Tyrone Corbin, discussing Trey Burke, wrote:We'll see if we look at him as a starting point guard. Guys on the team know they have to earn minutes on this roster.

And so it begins.

I know this is just standard coach talk -- "guys have to earn it" -- but I'm getting that same feeling I got when George showed Lenny the river at the beginning of Of Mice and Men.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

I'm not convinced Ty knows what his current roster looks like.

Heard that Corbin really pushed the FO to acquire Burke; if true then it seems likely he "earns" the starting PG job.

That would be a most pleasant surprise. Of course, Burks will still be waving a towel while Randy Foye jacks up threes, but one step at a time...

I hope DL doesn't sign anyone that would make Corbin want to start him in front of Burke, DL wants to tank so we bring back Tinsley and say good bye to Mo and Earl. Have a feeling that Mo goes to the Heat anyway, he's better than Chalmers.
Ingles is cooked.

It's going to be hard to discuss "Burke" and "Burks" at the same time. Anyone have any suggestions?

Let's just assume they have the same last name and call them Alec & Trey.

Reporter: "What did you see from Garrett that made you play him down the stretch?"

Ty: "Well, he's a point guard."
