A place for AK47 on this team?
With Andrei's falling out in Brooklyn is there a place for him on this team with a focus on passing and defense? Granted he was never a great shooter, but could he be a more defense-minded Joe Ingles?

AK-47 for Jeremy Evans makes sense for both teams. AK-47 adds stretch 4 depth but likely takes minutes away from Ingles and Hood.
Play with the Pass, Play with a Purpose, and Play with Pace along with Obvious Unselfishness....Coach Snyder says the sky is purple than Jazz players say nice purple sky! LONG LIVE THE MAD SCIENTIST!!!!

Really nice topic. I was actually thinking of asking the same exact question. And yes, I would love to have AK back. Especially now that we all know he won't get paid a really large sum of money.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Although missing offense, I can't help but wonder at how effective a defensive lineup of Exum-Hayward-AK-Favors-Gobert would be. Good luck scoring against that lineup!

AK is a below average player with back issues that limit his effectiveness and he is 33 with poor outside shooting. There is no place for him on our young team. People are basking in his historical stat sheet stuffing which hasn't happened for some time.

Below average? He averaged 17.6PER in Minnesota, which is very good for a player who's major strength is defense. He's been misutilized in Brooklyn, but in Utah I can see him be a great spark off the bench. He's not really that old, lots of players have been able to be effective for several years past 33.

At the 3M rate he's making now, I'll take him, injuries, age and all.

I wrote on the main page, and realized a thread would be made.
I thought we would trade Novak.

I would be happy to see it happen, he would probably play better in Snyder's system now vs. before.. plus he's a guy who can pass pretty well..
(like Inigo said.. at that price you really can't go wrong, Jeremy Evans and a filler contract to swap.. maybe Torre Murray and Evans or Ian Clark and Evans?)

Re: A place for AK47 on this team?
Rumor is that the Nets and 76ers are talking about a Kirilenko and Karasev trade for only a TPE.
In that case, would offering Evans or Novak (or both) for the two of them (could the Jazz include a TPE as well since the incoming salaries are greater?) be enough to beat this offer? To give AK47 the opportunity to retire in Utah and have a look a Karasev, or have him as a trade piece, I would do it. It's not like Evans or Novak are getting floor time.
However, it is uncertain whether the Nets are merely looking to shed salary, or replace a player who is not playing with a player who could. Jazz don't have the room player wise or cap wise to take both on for a TPE.

I would love to have AK back in a 15 minutes off the bench role.

since the Nets are so far over the cap with a losing team they're probably looking for expirings or TPE so that rumor makes sense... hate to see him burn out his last years with the 76ers

Re: A place for AK47 on this team?
Although I'd like us to add some outside shooting, we just as badly need any kind of help on defense. It would also be cool to see AK finish his career here in Utah. It's known that he and his wife still view SLC as their second home, so it's a good fit. And though I do like Ingles, AK is an upgrade even at his age. I still think he can be effective for 10-15 minutes off the bench.

I'd love to bring him back too, if only to have the Andrei Kirilenko retirement tour.

The rumor is that the Sixers would immediately waive AK, so it looks like he would be up for grabs.

His PER last year was 12.5 which is below average. Don't dwell on the past.

We'd have to offer him something to keep him happy. Maybe one game per season, he's allowed to play outside of Quin's system.

He was playing very little, and had injury issues last season. I'd take a chance on him for cheap.
