Utah Jazz Pre-Lottery 2015 Draft Big Boards

Post#1 » by bucephalus » Tue May 19, 2015 8:36 am

Since it looks like we won't get through the consensus Big Board before the Lottery tonight, I thought it might be fun if anyone who wanted to could put their own personal Big Board up in this thread. If enough participate, I could go through and try to figure out an "official" Big Board before the lottery goes down. My take:

1. D'Angelo Russell
2. Karl-Anthony Towns
3. Emmanuel Mudiay
4. Jahlil Okafor
5. Mario Hezonja
6. Kristaps Porzingis
7. Justise Winslow
8. Stanley Johnson
9. Myles Turner
10. Frank Kaminsky
11. Sam Dekker
12. Willie Cauley-Stein
13. Kelly Oubre
14. Cameron Payne
15. RJ Hunter

I think we need to trade up into the 8 or 9 area. I personally want Winslow.

pickIBL, I remember you weren't very high on Vezenkov. What changed? Do you think he can be successful in the league and at what position? To me he's one of the weirdest players in the draft to evaluate. He does pretty much everything through skill and smarts and despite being incredibly deficient athletically... and he's crazy productive and efficient with it. I really have no idea what to make of him. My mind tells me at some point the jump in athleticism and quickness of the opponents will make him unplayable, yet he's adjusted to any competition he's faced and he's succeeded even against the best of teams in Europe. Do you think he can handle the jump to the NBA? Who does he defend in the league?

Well he's a 95 birth year and 6'9. He could eventually develop into a hybrid 4. It's a late round gamble. George Lucas De Paula is another gamble. Sometimes, like with Exum, you just gotta roll the dice.

Especially if he's a legit 6'9 with a 6'11 wingspan. Some team might put him on the "Mirotic plan"

That actually looks like the actual list. When will they learn that the "best bigs" aren't always the best choice. Although I think Winslow is a little low, but everyone else is in a good "none-generic" spot.
