I fully agree, favors eff rating is better than cousins and Davis in all the zones but one for each one. the difference is .. Favors only gets about 2/3 of the possessions at best. I kind of day dream about gobert getting an 3 point range. that would space the floor better, giving favor's a one on one and allowing burks and hood to go to the basket, also Alec needs to launch a few more 3's imo

Re: Utah Jazz 2015-2016 Season thread
Although there are several things that the Jazz could do better at, my thought the last couple of games is that opposing teams are packing the paint and daring the Jazz to make outside shots. And, by and large, notwithstanding the season averages, the Jazz are not hitting.
The offense is going to suck most nights until those open shots are hit with regularity. When I watch games, it seems that opposing teams, and certain players in particular, if they are wide open you know that it is going in. I have zero faith in any of our players hitting a wide open shot. Burks and Burke went on a few game streak earlier this season hitting 3s, but those have dropped off and Hood and Hayward have been anything but consistent (arguably consistently bad) with their outside shots.
This allows teams to double and even triple team Favors. Gobert has virtually no offensive game, so as long as they keep him more than 5 feet from the basket he is mostly ineffective.
Favors has impressed me in that two summers ago he worked hard at his 15 foot shot game, which he is now money with. This past offseason he worked on his post footwork, and he looks awesome. Burke has progressed quite a bit over the offseason. However, it doesn't look like any other player has progressed since last year. We really, really need Hood and Hayward to be more consistent shooters (what did they do all summer?), otherwise this probably isn't a playoff team.

Re: Utah Jazz 2015-2016 Season thread
So basically this is how freaking amazing our front court is when we have a solid point guard!?
Neto's solid play was enough to win a game. I'm talking a real win, we were the better team, not just a survival match.
I thought Burke could do this type of stuff, but NEVER have I seen Burke run the court for a layup. Seeing Neto do it like 3 times, was like watching Stockton run the court, and get easy layup. It reminds me of how a solid point guard plays. It was literally his 10 points that was all the difference.
Griffin blowing up for 40 points should have been a total blow out. I think Neto starts for at least the rest of December.

Last time I saw Griffin score 40 points, it was a 100% Clippers slaughterhouse...I.E. won by half time.
Jazz for first time in the season get a well rounded awesome performance from their point guard, and we easily beat Clippers. Just like last year, the good performances from Exum that we went like 19 wins after All-Star.
POINT: Great Point Guard Performances = Only thing Missing to have double the wins than losses

Seems pretty unfair the kid has only got 11 minutes of opportunity through 15 games. Lyles finally had a nice game vs the Pelicans. I would like to see Withey a bit more, he seems to be very active in the paint to the limited minutes he's had.

Totally understandable given the depth chart and rotations. Lyles, in my opinion, would be a great candidate for the D-League, but since only Booker and Lyles can back up Favors as a true PF, Lyles might not get much DLeague time this season.

I would like to see more of Withey too. Play Booker less, Favors more at PF and give Withey some more playing time.

This would be nice. Surprised it doesn't happen more.

One month in we are 12th in offense and 10th in defense. Lot's of room to improve on both ends.

If defense can rise into top 6 and offense is 8-11 before end of the season that's pretty incredible considering Exum is out and it hasn't been that long since Ty was the coach. Just imagine the team with Ty still coaching. Ouch.

They can really improve on both sides, I don't think they've played particularly well so far. Hayward, Hood, and Burks haven't been consistent so far. If they play as well as they have in the past this team is a top 10 offense. As ugly as we play, all of our top 6-7 guys are average or above average in efficiency.
Defensively it's all about effort and focus. That has been the most disappointing area for me. If they stay locked in I think they can be a top 6-8 on defense. I don't think they'll be elite until Exum comes back. Watching our perimeter defense this year makes me appreciate Exum more than ever. He's a very important piece to the puzzle.

If these 10 second ads on RealGM don't stop every time I want to post in a thread, this will be my last post ever.

I don't get ads. But recently I can't open threads and it just says network is busy all the time. So that's awesome.

Some good news. Lot's and lot's of time for Exum to work on his jumpshot.

Re: Utah Jazz 2015-2016 Season thread
I think a lot of people are being too harsh on the Jazz this year. Right now they have the 4th best point differential in the Western Conference. The Jazz are already a solid playoff team when healthy and are one of the youngest teams in the league.
But with Gobert and Exum out it makes no sense to expect a lot of wins. This is an evaluation year. I think it's safe to say that Gobert/Favors/Hayward/Burks/Exum are part of our long term future. Everyone else is more questionable. We should be giving them plenty of minutes to see who is worth keeping.
Wins are irrelevant this year, and actually hurt us in the long run if they cost us a higher draft pick.
