Drafting Valenciunus or Kanter...theoretically which would have made the Jazz better?

Post#1 » by DelaneyRudd » Wed Apr 27, 2016 8:22 am

Had the Jazz drafted Jonas Valenciunus rather than Enes Kanter a lot of variables change. Jonas came over a year later. The trade for Rudy Gobert would be in question.... Though wasting time with Enes hurt still.

Was this Raul Lopez over Tony Parker all over again or are things better off how they are?

Neither players are good defenders but Kanter overall is the better player in my opinion.

We'd have Jonas and Favors up front compared to Gobert and Favors. I'd say it's a wash.

Rudy doesn't have that offensive upside that both kancer and jonas had. I wish gobert will learn how to score

I don't believe Utah would have passed on Rudy if we had JV, considering what we gave up. He still would have been worth trading for, even as a backup. So in hindsight, considering that Kanter turned out to be a crying little bitch, we would have been better off drafting JV. However, if you're just comparing the two players, Kanter was probably the right pick.

Any player who is an above average player would have been better than Kanter because we would have been compensated more in a trade. Kanter was a douche and played like a baby.

In a vacuum I would say JV, but if you could go back and change it, I don't think anyone would because there's a chance, however small, that it could cost us Rudy.

The Jazz got little compensation for him because they forced themselves into a corner and a bad situation we could see coming a mile away, and not because he wasn't a good player or had little value.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

No arguments from me. The organization deserves a BIG part of the blame. But so does Kanter playing selfish uninspiring basketball. Considering how little we got for him I would have rather just traded to him to Philly.
