Just curious, you guys able to retain Harden for 12-13mill a year if you amnesty Perkins? With Cook, Hayward, Maynor, Aldrich, Jackson all coming off the books it seems possible you guys can pull a Miami Heat and just sacrafice the bulk of your depth and roster to move forward with the pieces you want.

Basically just asking is it realistic that you will beable to keep him at MARKET price

C. FA (1.5-2.5mill)
F. Ibaka 12.25
F. Durant 18.77
G. Harden 13mill
G. Westbrook 14.69

C. Thabeet 915k
F. Collison 2.58
F. P.Jones 1.08
G. 1rst Rounder (1mill)
G. 2nd Rounder (855k)
Reserve Vet (855k)
Reserve Vet (855k)

Amnesty Perkins 2million against cap
Totals to roughly 68million..the limit is 70million before luxary tax
2million to shell out for 4 players seems iffy. I see you guys potentially sacrificing a guy like Sefolosha or Collison at the deadline for an expiring contract to give you some extra cushion (64million) You then theoretically have around 6million to fill out a roster of a Starting Center, Backup Point, Backup 2g and two reserves.

Al Jefferson isn't imo a good fit in OKC, and I think we need Perkins to slow Howard. Perkins did good against Bynum and Duncan last season. We need him, he's a good post up defender.

The James Harden trade was good for the Thunder; Recalling two years ago the Thunder's management did not feel good about the development of Harden and didn't know what to do with him. Last year he had issues in the NBA championship with Miami. The upside Harden developed into the best 6th man in the NBA and he increased his value on the open market. Houston does not have anyone who is capable of doing the heavy scoring burden and Harden fits the bill. The Thunder received much from the trade Martin and Lamb key players who can score and provide options away from Westbrook and Durant, now there are more options to move the ball out of Durant's hands to other capable players; balance scoring is required. Thabeet is a good backup and is even with the loss of Aldrich. Perry Jones gives the Thunder many options and different looks from the same player. he can play all three and possibly four positions on the court. This opportunity opens the door for Mr. Harden to be traded and not lose any talent but increase the team's scoring balance and depth with the additional options. Durant will not be as tired and worn down from carrying the major scoring burden with just Westbrook. Give the Thunder a little time to make some adjustment and become familar with the new additions to this team. The Thunder management has done an excellent job to relieve themselves of a player who did not desire to be in Oklahoma City anymore and compensate this team with more talent and remain very competitive to pursue the NBA title and Western conference champions again.

And may I ask why do you think Al Jeff wouldn't be a good fit for this team?

He's a truly abysmal defender and a bit of a black hole (Although he's been better about the black hole thing lately). And even his post scoring is on the inefficient side.

Our defense is shaky enough as is, giving Al Jefferson big minutes... A lineup of Westbrook/Martin/Durant/Ibaka/Jefferson would just be terrible defensively, between Westbrook's gambling, Martin's lack of defense, Durant getting lost, Ibaka jumping at everything, and Jefferson being unwilling or unable to rotate.

I would rather keep 1 of Lamb or PJ III and add in either Reggie Jackson or the Dallas pick instead, and instead of Gibson, has either Casspi or Leuer instead, cause our guard seemed to be set.

edit: assuming that AV is reasonably healthy

I really am not going to be picky as to what we send out if it means Varejao. If we can somehow get him without sending out any of our core players or the Toronto pick, do the trade now.

You can have Casspi even if there is no Varejao trade. He's free.

Would any of you do a Russell Westbrook for Dwyane Wade trade?

If not what about a Westbrook, Martin and Ibaka for Wade and Bosh?

OKC is only moving Westbrook in a deal that brings back an extended Dwight Howard, LeBron James, Chris Paul or MAYBE Kevin Love.

What are your thoughts on a Gortat/Dudley/Marshal for Perkins/Lamb/Raptors pick trade?

Lamb and Raptors pick is kind of harsh, but if Dudley and Marshall are incoming as well, sure.

Martin is a rookie like Lamb so that is pretty much as wash because either is for development. But Dudley really doesn't bring much to the team because who minutes will he be taking?
