Lottery gods favored Busersports with 2 picks at the top and one in the middle. Hailfire pays for the rest of his team's good luck by picking last. (pick average: 6.5)

Realgm did alright with 1 team in every 4 picks, evenly distributed across the board. Brian (WB) got the short end of the stick for us. Overall, pretty average lottery for us. (pick average: 8.75)

Cafe has 4th 8th, 9th and 13th picks, a perfectly average draft. (pick average: 8.5)

Rotokingdom was the unlucky forum this year, ending up with 5th, 10th, 12th and 14th picks (pick average: 10,25)

:o BOOM BABY! YEAH!!!

Now I can't wait to start this season off with a bang...then, some point midway, in a massively drunken stupor, declare "F--K IT!!!", and pull the trigger on a trade which sends my #1 draft pick away for a jar of Vaseline autographed by Stephon Marbury. :P

Damn, I love fantasy basketball!!! :D  8-)

Personally in this draft year if u can't get a top 4 pick then last is the best place to be.

Turning over my team's personnel decisions to Rob Hennigan. Offering my first-round pick (8th overall) for future draft considerations, preferably a 10th-12th round pick (provided you draft Al Harrington).

So, when's the last year rotokingdom actually had above average pick positions as a forum in this leauge?

Guess I shouldn't complain too much. The one year (of 5 now) I personally actually had a top 8 pick in this league is the one year I missed the playoffs.

In a real fantasy league trading D12 for Al Harrington and Affalo might get vetoed. In the real NBA this is a great even fair trade. I would love to be in a fantasy league with hennigan. I would say hey I'll trade Iggy and Affalo for D12. He would counter with Al Harrington and Affalo that bartering genius.

Fyi, I'm going to be traveling from Sept 2-16. I will have access but won't be in front of a comp 24/7 like every other day of my life. I don't anticipate issues, but wanted to give a heads up.

Has everybody from BuserSports migrated over to basketballmonster's forum? If so, we should probably switch this here for proper representation.

How about we put each forum in its own division and then only schedule out of division games? This would solve 2 problems. First like last year where Gokce went 8-1 against his leaguemate Sly and knocked him out of the playoffs in the last week. We could always root for our leaguemates every week. The playoffs would of course be the top 8 records slotted as such. Plus when 2 Buser guys play each other the result is both get a 500 record for the forum. So if a forum performs great (or poorly) it will be totally at the hands of the other 3 enemy forums. Just an idea. Are we now the BBM forum?

Honestly, I LIKE this idea, and it's not just because HF is a league-mate. It makes perfect sense to run four different divisions, then run the playoffs with the top two from each division.

If I remember correctly, last year we didn't get to play every manager from the other three forums. In a perfect world, you would want to at least play each of the four managers in the other three forums. But it didn't work out that way (my guess is because of the shortened season?). Even if the schedule works out THIS season, you would still have to play some of those managers twice, right? So, what if we end up getting a schedule draw where we have to play more than one manager from our own forum twice? As HF said, that result would get us a .500 record for the forum as a whole...but in this situation, it hit us twice!

Now, I'm not ranting or raving about this (I really don't think HF is either), but maybe it's a new twist to consider for the future, since it would encourage camaraderie between the individual forums (like discussing draft strategies, or trade and add/drop advice) during the regular season, without worrying so much about "Well, I've got to play YOU this week." And of course, come playoff time, it's every man for himself! :D

And as far as BBM goes...just call us MONSTER CLAN OF BASKETBALL!

...or not... :) 8-)

Don't mind scheduling it where you only play forums outside of your own, but if this results in having a max of two from each forum advance to the playoffs, then I'm completely against it.

I totally agree. the top 8 teams recordwise should slot the playoffs as normal. Not sure where the 2 per division idea came from. Remember when the 11-5 Broncos missed the playoffs and the 8-8 Browns made it? me too. Also any trade deadline decisions needs to be settled before the season starts.

I don't know if I made it sound that way, but I wouldn't want the 2 per division thing either.

What I envisioned was something like this: split all four forums into their own divisions (RealGM, Cafe, Busersports, Rotokingdom), then have them ONLY play managers outside their division - that way, none of your forum-mates would play against you, but each of the four members of your forum/division would play every member of the other 3 forums at least once - OR, they would play as many different managers from the other forums as the schedule would permit. Then, when all was said and done, it would be the top 8 teams with the best records overall, regardless of what division they're in - if one forum manages to get all four guys in, so be it. Don't know if this could be set up with Yahoo or not (with the least amount of headaches, I mean), but that would be the general idea.

There are other options as well, but I think THEN it would involve going into some kind of "round robin" type of tournament...or worse yet, something like the World Cup tournament, which is really squirrelly! For that type of scenario, I think you would be looking at top 2 moving on to the next round kind of stuff, and rescheduling for each round, and junk that's just too crazy for fantasy ball. Definitely don't want to be looking at those options. :-?

I think this is an intriguing idea. If the league is all about the rivalry between basketball boards, doing divisions like this fits that idea.

I'd be fine with the idea too (4 divisions according to forum, then set up all non-division games), if it can be done. If it can't then it doesn't really matter. Regardless top 8 records should make the playoffs imo.

Yes, last year we did 2 divisions, and the only thing the divisions did was ensure that the top team from each division made the playoffs. So in this case, every board would have a team in the playoffs, leaving 4 open spots to be divvied out depending on record. (I'm now seeing how that could actually cause problems)
