Semi-Keeper League -Draft Set For Friday 9pm PST
Gentlemen,
I would like to form a new keeper league made of active RealGM fantasy basketball participants.
The league will kick off sometime in August/September with the first keeper draft.
I'm thinking right now of a league of approximately 12 players, but I'm open to more if more are interested.
It will be standard rules, except the rosters will be a little smaller. I want this league to revolve more around top tier talent, and have it be less concerned with bench and role players. We have plenty of "deep" style leagues on the forum already, so let's try something different.
Here are my thoughts on league rules:
Lineups: PG, SG, G, PF, SF, F, C, Bench, Bench
Stats: FG%, FT%, 3s, Pts, Rebs, Assts, Stls, Blks, TOs
Waiver Wire: Auction style. In other words, since potentially really good players could be available on the wire, we'll need a better way to police this than just first to the wire. So, each player will have a set amount of cash to spend on waiver wire pick-ups. Once you're out, you're out.
Each year, each manager will be able to keep 5 players (basically, a starting five). And the rest of the players will go back into the draft pool. There will be two drafts annually:
1) Lottery based draft for rookies
2) Auction-style draft for all remaining players
I am, of course, open to suggestions.
Sign up below if you're interested.
Intriguing idea, isn't it?

Re: New Fantasy Forum Keeper League
Hi sir
with only 12 gm and 9 players = 108 picks total so i think its 2 short
I would prefer
a) dinasty since we dont have alot of dinasty leagues
b) having a bigger roaster something like
Pg
sg
g
g
sf
pf
f
f
c
c
b
b
b
b
b
b
15 players team x 12 gm = 180 players
c) I dont like the idea of action after 1st season
I would prefer to have 3 round picks with 1 1st 1 2nd 1 3rd pick
we could droop players and we would add 1 bench spot for the 1st 3 season
i m open to enter if you have a spot for me

Re: New Fantasy Forum Keeper League
I prefer a keeper league (ie only 5 players being retained by each manager), getting stuck with the same roster year after year becomes incredibly boring, and it takes away the drafting component, which is the funnest part of it all.

Will this replace the Money League?
Anyway, I'm game.

I was just thinking how I'd like to get in on one of these with the fantasy competitors around this forum.

I'm cool to roll with 10 players if that's who is interested. I think we're up to 9 now so, anyone have a friend?

Re: New Fantasy Forum Keeper League
I'll throw my hat into this if there is a spot open. Also I'd say we can gather up more gm's (my guess is 16) if we wait until August. Everyone is on vacation right now and once we have the usual FFL group back in drafting, I'd think there would be more of them willing to get into this.

^^
My_Lo is the friend of mine who said he wanted to be in the league.
He's a big Jazz fan, but I've forgiven him for that. He's also a blogger on SLC Dunk

Re: New Fantasy Forum Keeper League
I am interested. I like the look of a short roster and active league, and would maybe prefer not keeping a whole roster so there is a bit of a draft/pick trading in the offseason.

Re: New Fantasy Forum Keeper League
Ok guys, it's time to get this league started.
If you've posted interest already, please re-claim your spot, and as soon as we're all present and accounted for, we'll run our lottery. I'd like to start the draft Tuesday of next week.
Please pick a number between 1 and 12.
Thanks.
