So if Joerger gets his wish to become the new T'Wolves coach, who will likely become the next head coach of thE Grizzlies?
Names that been mention.
Thibs
John Calipari
Eric Musselman
Jeff Van Gundy
George Karl
Can't say the names mention is likely to be the next coach. Likely odds that it's someone entirely one has thought of at this point in time.

John Calipari is the choice if you intend to give the hire authority in personnel decisions which Coach Cal is seeking in order to leave Kentucky.
If you want to hire just a coach and either just let Chris Wallace remain in the position or hire a new GM then hiring the coach first is a mistake and you could possibly be facing a similiar situation next year.
Pera clearly wants someone to be the face of the organization and do the talking so he doesn't have to, Calipari makes the most since in that regard. If he has to write an 8 million a year check to have his freedom he is okay with that. (I think)

Funny thing is - it's being reported now that Minny will interview Joerger, Sam Mitchell, and Hollins.

Cal was not a good pro coach, and there is no indication he would make a good personnel guy. Plus most people in Memphis dont like him.
I see no reason he should be considered

I respect Hollins and would not mind if he came back to coach. But considering how things went down between him and the new regime(under going renovations again) it's doubtful he'll be back in Memphis as head coach.
I would like for the Grizz to look into Mark Jackson or JVG as possibilities.

What is going on in Memphis?
Why is Joerger being let go?

The way I understand it, it's more like a one year extension. His option became a guaranteed year and the following year is now an option.

Re: Wolves Get Permission to Talk to Joerger
Talk about a week of crazy events within the Grizz organization. I have to say that I can't decide how to feel about this situation. Considering how all of these move were literally knee jerk moves from start to finish on yesterday. The firings of Levian and Lash leads to Joerger's response by looking for another coaching job elsewhere. Then comes Tuesday's breaking news and interview with Joerger on The Eric Hasseltine Show about the extension and having this long talk with Pera to be on the same page. Talk about a whirlwind.

Re: Wolves Get Permission to Talk to Joerger
We talk about how experience matters as a coach or player or GM, but I think we need to realize that it matters as an owner too.
Pera's new to this. Managing a smallish (relatively speaking) wireless tech manufacturer is wildly different than running an NBA team. All the personalities you have to deal with, the media, the pressure of winning, and - most importantly - the realization that you can't just snap your fingers and make things the way you want them. Even if you're a 100% owner, other people within the organization will have more say than in a normal company, particularly the coach and players.
I think we're watching Pera struggling to figure out what his role is supposed to be as controlling owner. I think he's already figuring out that stability is key, as evidenced by the extension for Joerger and the extension negotiations with Randolph.
