Grizzlies Trade Value

Post#1 » by nodeal » Tue Nov 11, 2014 8:16 am

How would you rank your players average trade value? Assume all the GMs created a trade value list, you averaged them out, and pulled out the grizzly players.

Would it look like this?

1. Mike Conley MEM $8,894,216 $9,588,426
2. Marc Gasol MEM $15,829,688
3. Zach Randolph MEM $16,500,000 $9,638,555 $10,361,445
4. Courtney Lee MEM $5,450,000 $5,675,000
5. Jordan Adams MEM $1,344,120 $1,404,600 $1,465,080 $2,410,057
6. Tony Allen MEM $4,831,461 $5,168,539 $5,505,618
7. Kosta Koufos MEM $3,000,000
8. Jarnell Stokes MEM $725,000 $845,059 $980,431
9. Nick Calathes MEM $816,482
10. Vince Carter MEM $3,911,981 $4,088,091 $4,264,057
11. Jon Leuer MEM $967,500 $1,035,000
12. Beno Udrih MEM $2,077,000 $2,170,465
13. Tayshaun Prince MEM $7,707,865
14. Quincy Pondexter MEM $3,146,068 $3,382,023 $3,617,978 $3,853,931

3.Kosta Koufus
4.Mike Conley Jr.
5.Tony Allen
6.Zach Randolph
No reasonable offers past this but it doesn't mean a player could not be traded, its just the return is not worth talking about.

I can see gasol number 1 his contract isnt nearly as good as conleys but he's a very valuable piece.

Prince cant be that high. trade value is who could bring back the most in a trade.

I don't know, i have prince just as high. I look at it differently than you though. Imo trade value is based on what you get back compared to what you give up.

In fact, i'd put prince at number 1. Just think about it this way, prince doesn't really help the team but thanks to his expiring we could get a solid piece for him if a bad team wants to get rid of some salary. Kevin martin or carl landry come to mind, if we're lucky. For conley or gasol i highly doubt we could get better players than them in return.

I agree expiring contracts will generally give back a better player on a worse contract. So worthless prince should bring in a semi useful player on a 3 yr not so great deal.

I want to make a most valuable player list based on trade value.

example:
1. Anthony Davis
2. Lebron
3. Durant

this list would be interesting, but not what im looking for :D
1. Tashawn Prince
2. Chuck Hayes
3. Andrea Bargnani

here might be a better way to say it

How would you rank your players Trade Value? Who would bring in the most value on average in a trade with every other team?

Yeah i understood what you meant, i was just offering my view on trade value in relation to what benefits the team. If that makes sense. Anyway i'll give it my best shot using your criteria, it's almost the same as yours.

1. gasol (best player)
2. conley (probably the best skill/contract ratio among pg's)
3. zach (one of the best low post threats in the game)
4. prince (big expiring makes him valuable)
5. lee (would be a great 6th man for most teams)
6. tony (i somewhat randomly put him here, i honestly find it hard to gauge his trade value)
7. koufos (struggling so far but was good in previous seasons, will be higher if he gets back on track)
8. vince (i'd put him at 4 if he wasn't injured)
9. udrih (solid backup, very reasonable contract)
10. adams (unproven rookie, unathletic shooter/scorer)
11. leuer (has shown flashes but still somewhat inconsistent)
12. stokes (unproven rookie, run of the mill undersized rebounder)
13. quincy (injury history makes him a big risk, especially with his contract)
14. calathes (not an nba level player imo)

I agree gasol prob has more trade value than conley. PGs are plentiful.

An expiring is basically neutral value. Prince could easily bring in a carl landry, but landry is negative value. I dont think prince could bring in kevin martin or anyone with positive value.

I'd put Leuer a little higher. He's still young and could turn into a good stretch 4 that seems popular now.

My original list was based upon what you can get from trading that player, thus their value. T. Prince is so high based upon his salary and for Memphis to take that salary back he is either going to be a part of a large deal bringing back an impact player. While it could be argued that Conley is the best player on the team, but what would he bring back and who would trade for him, as his contract is great but he is not elite yet. Kosta Koufus is high because his salary is low and a few prominent teams are bullish on him, i.e. Cleveland, hence when one team wants you there is another willing to block or get to you first. Zach and Tony are lower because while their play can be elite the market for them would be small as only a team with championship aspirations and a hole at defensive wing (Clippers) or a hole at power forward (Brooklyn) would be interested and the Grizz probably would decline to deal with most of them anyway.
