Rumors Memphis wants to bypass FA using their MLE and just trade for Barnes

Memphis trades
Carter
Leur
Ridnour

to CHA for
Barnes
Hawes

Actual Breakdown due to league cap rules and trade regulations would be

Ridnour for Barnes

Carter+Leur for Hawes

Memphis could also toss in the TOR 2016 Second round pick for good measure

Note this trade will not work in the trade machine due to Ridnour not being with Memphis yet, but it works due to VInce Carter having a kicker clause in his contract as well if you are simply looking at salaries.

Charlotte does it to save a bit of money by cutting Leur and/or Ridnour plus they bring back the hometown hero Carter back closer to UNC

Memphis does it to secure a veteran wing player who can shoot and probably has a vendetta against the Clippers (Memphis big rival) for trading him, also they take care of the backup big position and renounce Koufos FA rights , going ahead and moving on since its highly unlikely Koufos stays and not for any amount we can give him. This keeps our draft pick and the full MLE open to bring in a piece to fill in our last holes such as bringing in the 3 point bomber Marco Bellinelli and drafting a PG/C or a draft and stash like Cedi Osman.

will not work, Ridnour can not be combined with other players; only a draft pick or draft rights

he isnt combined with a player, its two separate trades technically, thats what I was trying to explain, thats how the majority of trades pan out anyway to get around some of these rules
