Lets face it we need a NAME COACH, with a personality larger than life. That would be Pearl. He can out shadow CAL. He's great with the Media, Boosters, Recruiting, and on the Floor. He is probaly the only Coach out there that could convince our signees to possibly come.

We could grab a young coach from xavier, wake or butler......Capel for OK would be a good fit.

PR ublic Relations and transciding the game to motivate the community and China are the hard parts.

Lon Kruger from UNLV or Bobby Cremins from Charleston are really the only 2 other big name coaches out there.

If Memphis hired Nolan Richardson, I am pretty sure that the Tigers would be back on the right track. Great coach that has been blacklisted from the game for way too long.

10 years ago, MAYBE. Not now. Nolan's just not an option.

Since when do coaches go out of style? Look at how well his protege's are doing.

Nolan is 67, and he's an old 67. He wasn't recruiting his final years at Arkansas, and there's the specter of how he left and the ensuing lawsuit. Nolan was the shiznitz in his day, but that has long since passed. We missed on Nolan's relevant legacy when Mizzou (wisely) locked up Anderson.

Word out of the Athletic Office today is that RC is holding open interviews for the job today. As an additional incentive, anyone that accepts the Tigers' head coaching job for next season gets to coach the rest of the Grizzlies games for this season!

Agreed. I'm still holding onto hope for Reggie Theus.

I keep hearing this (from the likes of Calkins and Limpenis), but I have yet to see any threat of NCAA action against him. Keep in mind that he moved into a Baylor program that was as down as a program can possibly get. His first season they couldn't even play out of conference games. He's quietly built the program back up. This is the Vandy of the Big 12. He was/is in on John Wall as well.

I'm not saying he's the "one", I just don't understand the - to date in my mind - unproven venom folks are spewing about him.

Additionally, Reggie Theus just doesn't do it for me. I could well be wrong, but I'm just not enthused with him.

What I like about Theus is that he has, like Cal, been a head coach in the NBA, and he can pitch to his recruiting targets that he knows what it takes to get there.

We need a Coach that has been successful in College, and must have been a coach in the Pro's.

Sounds like a Reggie Theus description. The Tigers are running out of options fast. They need to pick the most reasonable coach who best fit the criteria to help rebuild the program.

Theus is openly lobbying for the Arizona job. Arizona has zoned in and (reportedly) already offered Xavier's Miller. I'm with Dan Wolken on this one. Theus just doesn't do it for me.

Wolken questioning bringing in "problem" players? Wouldn't want a coach at UofM that does that ... oh wait.
