Trade Tournament II THE FINAL ROUND--ready for judging!!!
OhOhChristopher v.s. -Kees-
Final Scenario:
The Brooklyn Nets have realized that they have made a huge mistake and are in a financial mess. In terms of salary and flexibility, they are in horrendous shape. The owner and GM are looking to tear some pieces down and they want IMMEDIATE cap room. Now that Jason Kidd has been removed, their goal is to bring in talented players through FA that want to play for this franchise and under their new HC.
Goal: make a trade that gives the Brooklyn Nets some cap space for the next NBA season. Tear down some pieces and create major flexibility. You want as much cap space as possible to make a strong pitch to a top tier free agent in the 2015 off season.
Off the table: no one
-Realism is huge for this scenario
-You can only make one trade
-Try not to trade away too many assets
-And finally..Good luck!
***Deadline is September 2nd 10:00pm EST***

Bleehhhhh I hate the Nets. The winner will have to earn this one haha. I have to get to a few classes now, but I'll get my entry in at like ~4:00 today.

Re: Trade Tournament II THE FINAL ROUND
RESULTS:
Player A:
New York, Brooklyn and Memphis
MEM OUT: Tayshaun Prince, Quincy Pondexter, 2015 2nd MEM
MEM IN: Jarret Jack, Mirza Teletovic
Why for Memphis?
They take on a bit of long term salary (22.4M VS 17.0M totals) and give up a pick, but put out a much better product on the floor. Memphis is really thin on bigs, and Teletovic is the perfect fit next to Gasol as that first big off the bench. Jack can be a good 6th man too, and gives insurance at the 1 and 2. They'd have a much better shot getting far in the playoffs after this trade, and keeping Gasol as well.
Mike Conley / Jarret Jack / Beno Udrih
Tony Allen / (Jarret Jack) / Nick Calathes / Jamaal Franklin
Courtney Lee / Vince Carter / Jordan Adams
Zach Randolph / Mirza Teletovic / Jon Leuer
Marc Gasol / Kosta Koufos
NYK OUT: Amare Stoudemire, Andrea Bargnani, Jose Calderon, Travis Outlaw
NYK IN: Deron Williams, Brook Lopez, Bojan Bogdanovic, Quincy Pondexter
Why for New York?
New York decides that instead of trying to get a LMA/Rondo in FA, that they just take a PG/Big combo with their EXP. Lopez does have injury problems, and Deron hasn't wasn't playing up to his contract last year, but when they are both on this turns NYK into a top 3 team in the East. They also get a few decent young forwards to help out as well.
Deron Williams / Pablo Priginoi / Shane Larkin
JR Smith / Tim Hardaway Jr
Iman Shumpert / Quincy Pondexter / Quincy Acy
Carmelo Anthony / Bojan Bogdanovic / Cleanthony Early
Brook Lopez / Samuel Dalembert / Cole Aldrich / Jason Smith
BRK OUT: Deron Williams, Brook Lopez, Bojan Bogdanovic, Jarret Jack, Mirza Teletovic
BRK IN: Amare Stoudemire, Andrea Bargnani, Tayshaun Prince, Jose Calderon, Travis Outlaw, 2015 MEM 2nd
Why for Brooklyn?
In an attempt to clear out the books, they lose a little talent on the floor. However, both of the main guys have been pretty big letdowns anyways. Picking up some savvy vets like Prince and Bargs, they may just go somewhere this year. And even if they don't make it past the first round, they really only have JJ, Calderon and some rookie deals on the books after this season.
Jose Calderon / Marquis Teague / Jorge Gutierrez
Joe Johnson / Alan Anderson / Sergey Karasev / Markel Brown
Tayshaun Prince / Andrei Kirelinko / Travis Outlaw
Andrea Bargnani / Amare Stoudemire / Corey Jefferson
Kevin Garnett / Mason Plumlee / (Amare Stoudemire)
Player B:
Nets send: Brook Lopez
Nets receive: Tyler Ennis & TJ Warren
Suns send: Tyler Ennis & TJ Warren
Suns receive: Brook Lopez
Nets lineup
PG - Deron Williams | Jarrett Jack | Tyler Ennis
SG - Alan Anderson | Markel Brown
SF - Joe Johnson | Andrei Kirilenko | TJ Warren
PF - Kevin Garnett | Mirza Teletovic
C - Mason Plumlee
Suns lineup
PG - Eric Bledsoe | Isaiah Thomas
SG - Goran Dragić | Archie Goodwin
SF - PJ Tucker | Gerald Green
PF - Markieff Morris | Marcus Morris
C - Brook Lopez | Miles Plumlee | Alex Len
Nets dump $13ish million next season for two players who become their most valuable assets, along with Plumlee. KG, AK47 & TELETOVIC ARE ALL EXPIRING, THAT GIVES THEM $30ISH MILLION NEXT FA TO SPEND WITHOUT LOPEZ, COMPARED TO $15 MILLION WITH LOPEZ. This team is a borderline playoff team with or without Lopez. Playing Plumlee would benefit them more than playing an often injured, yet talented Lopez.
Suns get an All-Star caliber player, when healthy. Lopez fits in perfectly with everything the Suns do. Pick and Rolls with Lopez and any of the Suns 42 point guards would be deadly. Losing Ennis and Warren wouldn't really be a problem considering they have draft picks galore.

Gonna have to go with Player B, simplicity matters. I also looooooooooove that Lopez is going to PHX because they resurrect so many oft injured players careers. Think Nets have to consider it as well because of cap relief and nice prospects.

I vote for Player B. I like the ambition and creativity of Player A's deal but at the end of the day I think both Memphis and the Knicks say no. (For the Knicks, this is a deal I see them doing in prior administrations, but not under Jackson. Too many risks, and too much commitment to open up cap space and get their own guys.) Player B's deal doesn't clear nearly as much salary but it's reasonable for both teams.

Player B.
They actually got some value for Lopez and reduced the cap hit, all while staying competitive.

That'd be OhOhChristopher, congrats to him! His idea was something I was actually really close to posting haha but I thought clearing more cap would be better than only having a few mil of cap after still having JJ, Jack and Deron on the books. His was better than mine tho, and he deserves it. Good job to everyone who contributed, and thanks to the judges!

Re: Trade Tournament II THE FINAL ROUND--ready for judging!!
I liked player B's trade better for the Nets, although I thought player A did a better job accomplishing the scenario and I don't really like either outcome for the Nets. Glad I don't have to vote at this point, haha, that was a hard scenario.
