"Legends" GMAT - Coaching Thread.

Post#1 » by MadNESS » Thu Oct 16, 2014 9:02 am

As always coaching rules are as follows:

- Coach's may or may not sign at any given point.
- They may sign right away (once an offer is received) or a week from when an offer is received.
- Coach's occasionally will only take offers if they have demands met (players can't be traded, you must contend, ect)
- Coaching is based on realism, fit, and basketball reasons.
- Please post hirings and firings in this thread. (The most details and pictures the better)

Please take all of these into consideration when sending your offers for coachs.

- Coach's can be fired at any point or any reason.
- Once a coach is fired, you may then send in offers for them.

Legend coach's such as Coach K or Tom Izzo probably won't come to the NBA so keep that into consideration.

Coaching offers go to: Cantmesswithness8@yahoo.com

New available coach's:

Monty Williams
Micheal Malone
Brad Stevens
Scott Brooks
Jason Kidd

The Hornets are pleased to announce the hiring of our new head coach. He is a 2-time NCAA champion. An 18 year NBA veteran. A rookie of the year, a 7 time all-star. Had a tremendous all around-game and not only does he have one of the greatest basketball IQ's of all-time, he may well be most intelligent person in the history of the Association. And when he's done leading the Hornets franchise to multiple championships, no one should be surprised if he's a future POTUS. Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Grant Hill

The Hornets would also like to announce the hiring of our lead assistant, and the smartest basketball man on the planey, Mr. Del Harris. Grant Hill is going to be an amazing head coach and who better to be his mentor for a year than the experienced Del Harris. A man who shares the highest levels of integrity with our new head man. 1 year at $4.99M

The Kings would like to announce the hiring of Head Coach Jeff Van Gundy to a 4yr/ $20M deal. Van Gundy joins the Kings in an effort to bring success back to a Sacramento franchise that hasn't seen success since the early 2000's and looks to bring that same excitement back to the Northern California area.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have decided to part ways with HC Scott Brooks and bring in former Bobcats/Hornets head coach Steve Clifford on a four year, $24M contract after being let go from the new-look Hornets.

Image

Highly regarded as a premier defensive-minded assistant coach for over a decade under both Van Gundy's in New York, Houston, and Orlando, Steve Clifford brought a defensive culture that changed the course of a previously struggling Charlotte franchise in just one season. Turning a bottom feeder into a top 5 defensive team that made the playoffs in his debut season as an NBA Head Coach, he turned enough heads from the Oklahoma City front office.

With a long reputation of helping big men excel in the NBA on both ends of the floor (he has extensively worked with Yao Ming, Dwight Howard, Al Jefferson, and more), he expects to have even more success working with a championship-caliber roster. His ability to maximize the effectiveness of his players is matched by few coaches in this league, and the Thunder are thrilled to have him.

We wish Scott Brooks the best, and are sad to let him go, but this was an opportunity that simply could not be passed up. Clifford is seriously too perfect of a fit for this roster. He values defense like few others and will bring out the best in our bigs- Al Jefferson, Taj Gibson, Javale McGee, and David West. He also makes sure there is adequate spacing for the bigs... and there is, with three premier offensive threats in Russell Westbrook, Klay Thompson, and that Kevin Durant guy that people keep talking about. Clifford's offensive sets are solid and rely heavily on ball movement, which is key when there are so many great scorers on the floor at one time. This should result in more high percentage shots than Brooks' "Give the ball to KD or Westbrook and let them score" mentality. All in all, if we weren't the favorites to win it all before, we are now. Welcome to OKC, Steve Clifford.

The Boston Celtics have announced the hiring of new Head Coach, Shane Battier.

Image

Shane brings an incredibly high basketball IQ, while maintaining high character throughout his career in the NBA and years in the NCAA. He went on to play four years of college basketball at Duke, where he captured the 2001 National Championship and swept the major National Player of the Year awards. Battier was selected with the sixth overall pick of the 2001 NBA Draft by the Vancouver Grizzlies , but was traded five years later to the Houston Rockets, then was traded back to the Memphis Grizzlies during the 2010–2011 NBA season. He signed with the Miami Heat in 2011. Battier won two NBA championships with the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013. He has been recognized for his aggressive defense and has "routinely guarded the league's most dangerous offensive players". He is the only basketball player to have ever won both the Naismith Prep Player of the Year Award (1997) and the Naismith College Player of the Year (2001).

Following Battier is Boston's new Head Assistant, former Duke teammate, Jay Williams. Neither player has had experience coaching, but both bring successful court experience and been in the vicinity of one of the greatest college coaches of All-Time, Coach K.

The Utah Jazz sadly are firing Quin Snyder

That being said we are proud to welcome Jerry Sloan back as being our head coach

Jerry Sloan took the Jazz to two championships with Karl Malone and John Stockton. Now we have a big 3 in Conley/LMA/Marc Gasol. We have one of the best rosters in the league, and are getting ready for the playoffs and having Jerry lead us the way once again

Indiana fires Frank Vogel and hires Quinn Snyder to a 4 year, $20 million deal. We really like the system Atlanta ran last year, and the offense was just as much Snyder's creation as it was Budenholzer's. That type of ball movement is the next step in the NBA, and we would be happy to be ahead of the curve.

The Milwaukee Bucks announce the firing of HC Jason Kidd.

They also announce the hiring of Frank Vogel as the new head coach on a 4 year 20 million dollar deal.
Image

Vogel has shown that he knows how to develop talent and build a top tier defense in today's NBA. With the Bucks, especially with the young frontcourt of Anthony Davis and Larry Sanders, Vogel has all the tools he needs to make a top 5 defense and eventually a championship team.

The Lakers have announced the hiring of Coach John Calipari to an 8 year, $80 million deal.

Coach Calipari is ecstatic to continue to coach the likes of Julius Randle, Karl Towns Jr and Andrew Harrison at the pro level and especially in Los Angeles as they build back up the great franchise that it is.
