60s/80s/00s Split-Eras Draft Thread (Snakebites OTC)
Draft Rules:
1. Every player from the 1959-60 season to the 1968-69 season AND the 1979-80 season to the 1988-89 season AND 1999-00 season to 2008-09 season will be available to be drafted.
2. The winner of the draft will be determined by way of a 16-team playoff tournament (see playoff rules).
3. You will be required to draft a total of 8 players. There will be no trading. However, you can trade your draft pick position with somebody else before the draft begins if you wish to do so.
4. You must state the specific season of the player you choose to draft. You don't have to do it right away when you make your selection but you must state it on your team roster page before the playoff tournament begins.
5. Your team will be allowed a combined total of 90.0 FGA corresponding with the specific seasons indicated for each player.
6. We will be doing a modified snake draft. It will go like this: ABBABBAB
7. Players will get a maximum of a 2-hour window to make their selection when they are on the clock. If a participant does not make a pick within 2 hours, he can make his pick whenever. A participant who has back to back or consecutive picks will have both full windows to make their picks. A participant who misses 2 consecutive picks may be replaced. Also, if you know ahead of time that you won't be available to make your pick on the clock then please PM/email your selection to myself (wallengms@gamil.com) or another participant...I strongly urge this so that the draft can move in a timely manner.
8. The clock will be turned off between 12 midnight and 9 AM EDT.
10. After you have made your draft selection, please quote and/or PM the person that goes after you so they will know that it is their turn and they are on the clock, which will start their 2 hour period.

I don't think I have had him before so made the decision between lots of people who could go number 1 in my opinion.
I will take 2009 LeBron.

Lebron was 2nd on my board and I would have been happy with him but the guy I really wanted and now get is:

Wilt Chamberlain. His 66-67 season is just insane, averaged 24/24 on like 12 FGA, played great D, won the mvp and a ring. Hard to argue with that.

Various parts of my brain urged prudence and caution here. They were voted down.

(Looks at board)
(Consults with imaginary consultants)
Any way I can pass on the Diesel here?
(General silence)
K.
I select Shaquille Oneal. I think this is actually the first time I've ever had Shaq in these games, not counting a 2005 game back in the day in which I used post-peak Shaq.

Mildly surprised and pleased to get this guy. Never built around him in prime form.
Kevin Garnett

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Was really torn between a bunch of guys here. I'm ultimately going to go with a guy I haven't had yet, and offers insane offensive versatility. I'll choose Dirk.
