Wiz Sign Josh Howard

Post#1 » by fishercob » Wed Jul 28, 2010 9:35 pm

Welcome back Josh Howard's expiring contract!

Yahoo's Marc Spears tweets:

Wiz agree in principle to sign Josh Howard to a 1year deal paying close to $4 mill w/bonuses, his consultant Derek Lafayette tells Y! Sports
"Some people have a way with words....some people....not have way."

I'd be too, if it wasn't for the black hole at C. We had better bring in a veteran center before the season starts.

Does this mean the end of Cartier Martin?

I hope not. I like Cartier as a back up and who knows when Howard will be ready?

This was a good move IMO. We don't committ ourselves to longterm salary, and get time to Josh to rehab. Those long arms are still there.

Nate, any updates on our cap situation?

Has anyone heard a recent report on when Howard might be ready?

I heard 1/2 way through the season. But that might have changed as of late.

I approve. Even if he gives us say 60 games at 80%, it's just a one year deal.

I do wonder if this kills N1's chance at minutes though, since it was already likely he was going to have to get bumped down to SF to see the court.

Agree W2L. Also, that's pretty much it for cap space, too.

The Wiz have an outside chance at making the post-season. The East is very tough right now. Cleveland is now one of the worst teams in the NBA so that opens up a spot.
much respect to the 2011-2012 champions, Miami Heat, well deserved

Lafayette, said his client could be able to go full speed by October.

I was really hoping for a 1 year + team option deal. I feel like the Wiz could've gotten that since it seems that no one is really interested in Josh.

Why would he agree to an option?
