Funny, I had the same question for you. Seems like a good place to end this back-and-forth. :)

That is pathetic. I would like to have seen a picture of it before it was "repaired". I just am not buying the "filled with dents" part of the story either.

I just read this. WTF was the point of lying about that?

I love how his follow up statement is just dripping with "o sh*t...." :

"The Bullets' 1978 championship trophy wasn't off-site when Monumental Sports & Entertainment purchased the team," Leonsis's statement said. "Rather, it was in a Verizon Center closet in a location that had limited access. Previously the trophy had been on display, but we initially had a difficult time locating it. Once we found it, we had it repaired and spruced up at Tiffany & Co. and placed it in a new display case on the arena's main concourse."

It's a completely ridiculous position.

You just are unhappy with Leonsis so assume whatever his GM does is stupid. I wouldn't know Martin Erat or Filip Forsberg if either walked into my office and sat on my face. I don't know if it's a good trade or not and neither do any of you. I don't understand the compulsion to have the answer for everything when "I don't know" is correct answer.

LOL. You and DCZ are 2 of a kind in this thread.

If this is true (and I'm not seriously doubting it) it is pathetic, but it's also hilarious and so predictable. Considering some of the doozy lines he's fed to the media and public, perhaps he sees the world in extremely subjective terms, the truth being whatever he says it is.

Just catching up on this one.

Yes, it appears Ted really was lying about something that thousands of people would know he was lying about from their own experience. It's pretty disconcerting.

EDITED: Just read through the Post story.

To me it looks like his staff lied to him. In which case kudos to him for not throwing them under the bus, I guess.

OK, that's another possibility. But Ted himself would have been walking past that trophy case all the time....

I'm sorry, at what point did his staff lie to him about his wife's friends, and his own conversations with his spouse?

Ironic that Teddy helped spread the internet to the masses yet doesn't seem to fully grasp how to control and use the internet to his benefit. Ted's corner has been a near-disaster with his censorship and now he's being factchecked out the wazoo.

It reminds me of Larry King's stories about Sandy Koufax.

Another part of this bugs me about as much as the whole lying thing. It's this "we spend a billion dollars over our lifetime..." line. He might spend a billion, but (especially with the new CBA), he'll make back a billion and a half. And then he (or his heirs) will sell the team for significantly more than he paid for it. So, in the end, he'll probably net out conservatively making half a billion to a billion over the years by "spending a billion."

Josh Harris, majority owner of what remains of the Philadelphia 76ers, said last week that the organization is in the "advanced stages" of buying a D-League franchise.

For those keeping count, that will give them two of those.
