Grunwald didn't do too bad in NY, even though he got destroyed in the Bargnani trade

That is the worst possible reason to keep EG -- because the alternative might be worse.
If I am a multi-billionaire I should feel confident in my ability to hire a better GM then EG.
My first question is "How would you incorporate advanced statistics into your decision-making process?"
If the answer is "Meh, I trust my eyes" kick the idiot out.

It is certainly possible to be smart in business but ignorant about basketball. I think Ted is most likely ego tripping, thinking his knowlege about business transfers to basketball.
I have no doubt that Ted actually believes he is knowlegable about basketball despite all the evidence to the contrary.

He apparently was uncomfortable with the way he was hired -- Grunfeld interviewed him and hired him. And, he got a 2-year contract while the other assistant coaches were all on one-year deals.
I stand corrected. He wasn't hired for long. He didn't even unpack.
That was such a frustrating time. I was so happy EG bring in Tibbs. I so wanted EFJ gone and even if they were both there for one year, Tibbs would have helped the defense.
Then poof. He was gone.
Remember when EG used to hire Hoop to help them with shooting. He really helped Haywood with his FTAs.
Man, EG looked like he could get things done back then. He found Gil. Got CB for Kwawe.

Oh, no question. He also thinks that "strategy" is important, that he understands "strategy" and has the right "strategy" and that it doesn't much matter who's "carrying it out."
There's a class of people in the technology industries whom the wind blew into a tree and they conclude that they know how to fly.
Breaking News: In a shocking development, Wizards owner Ted Leonsis has sold the NBA franchise to a consortium of participants in a discussion board devoted to the team on realgm.com. Details to follow....

Tedstake, hyping the Databall piece from Grantlanda week or two ago.

As a funny aside - at an NHL draft ten years ago - I was speaking to an NHL GM - a long term exec who had great success. I asked him what he looked for most in a prospect and he said "I look for a great hockey ass, and big thighs". He was serious at the time, too. We have come a long way.

I don't know about hockey, but that's still a good strategy at the beach.

Monte, I laughed, but let's not pretend you even know what a great hockey ass looks like.
Maybe I'll tell a girl at a bar that this weekend.

Today the Wizards announced ticket price hikes for next season. I only know about my season plan which will increase by more than 5%. I'd happily pay 10% more if they would sh*t-can Ernie.

The nerve of Turd to raise ticket prices on such a mediocre product. I'm not surprised at all.

Raising ticket prices seems to play into the thinking that the "All-In for Mediocrity" strategy was little more than a cynical gambit to persuade ticket buyers that the team was making progress, and then extract money from them.

Ted Leonsis is easily the worst owner in the league. For someone so smart, he makes Dan Snyder look like Robert Kraft

OMG I hope I never see Ted Leonsis on the street.
I agree with the earlier sentiments, this is a completely cynical move.
Ernie will get a new contract, not sure about Randy. Grunfeld always survives, but not his coaches.
