Down the line, IF he develops and IF he deserves the fan support ... it would be great if DC fans adopted that "Ves-ely! Ves-ely! Ves-ely!" chant.

"Tony Bruno on Fox Radio: "Who was that foreign guy whose girlfriend was making out with him? ... Before he even realized he was the sixth pick, his girfriend starts making out with him. Hey, that was a good kiss. There was tongue and everything!"

Someone else says: "Kudos to him." Bruno replied: "No, kudos to his girlfriend!"
Bye bye Beal.

(Pretty sure they never chanted Pecherov's name like that)

One thing I'll say is that the kid has swag! Did nobody else catch his comment about Blake Griffin???? He said "Blake Griffin is the American Jan Vesely"! I can't believe nobody mentioned that on the telecast! I think people must have missed it due to his accent, but I thought it was great. The guy has a ton of swag and will approach the game like a starter from day 1, guaranteed.

I missed that too. Either he picked up sErbian accent in English or he just mumbles in deep voice so I can't really understand him.

Hey congrats for the countryman getting the love in the draft and welcome to the boards!

So is it true that Czech girls are like totally hot?

Yeah that's quite spot on. Although not that tall ofcourse :)

Here's what David Aldridge thinks of him and his fit in DC. Hint...he likey!

To be a Wizards fan
1. You are either a semi-commited part time fan who says meh after a loss.
2. or you have a traumatic brain injury and watch the games without understanding them.
3. or you are willing to annually have your dreams torn from your soul.

It's at 3:40 of this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrxaHI_rf8k

The guy has some swag -- but for some reason it didn't come out sounding as stupid as Kanter saying he's going to have Dirk's shot, Dwight Howards toughness, etc. No doubt Griffin is going to come out and posterize Vesely a number of times, but if you're ever going to compete with the Blake Griffin's of the world you need game and you need that confidence.

I would swear wiki page had translated lyrics. Well these subtitled version should get you the idea, lyrics are pretty much just a modern parody on traditional fairy tales.

He had his moment with his girl, and in my opinion EASILY had the quote of the night...
When asked about being the "European Blake Griffin", he replied, "Blake Griffin is the American Jan Vesley"
My boy sitting next to me in his Blake Griffin attire threw a hissy fit on the spot. Darned near shouted blasphemy, tore his cloak, and rolled in ashes. I was LOL'n.

Yeah not really, expert opinions of Ves range from positive to, well, polite, and general fan reaction both in the area and around the country has been (from what I can tell) not so positive. Granted most of that reaction seemed to be "who the hell? A foreigner, I hate it when foreign people play basketball."

Between Jan and Trevor everybody is going to be so mean to Andray in practice, this will be very hard for him. Everybody else will go out dunking and they'll be like, "hey dray, want to go throw it down with us?" And he'll have to make up some awkward excuse like "uh, go ahead, I'll catch you guys next time I have a, uh... exotic dancing event to MC." And they'll all nod and be like "okay, no problem man" but everyone will know, there was no exotic dancing event, not on Tuesday, it was on Thursday.

OMG this song is a revelation. I can't stop watching it. If the Wizards dont play this video in honor of Jan I very well might possibly complain on the internet.

Thanks to Mike Lee, we have a name for Vesley's girlfriend: Eva Koduskova. And yes, she plays basketball.

http://bgbasket.com/en/player_logs.php?id=13179
http://www.eurobasket.com/player.asp?Cn ... rID=159408

She's listed at 192 cm, or 6' 3.5"(!).

I might be more interested in the draft rights to their kids than I am in the rights to Vesley himself. ;)

Judging by her stats, she doesn't have a bright hoops future.

She needs to put a full court press on JV to get that ring ASAP. She was working hard tonight and she better not let that dude get to DC unattached. Actually, after her kiss she put a lot more pressure on herself. A lot of other women saw that and I think they'll do what women I have known will do when they see one girl happy.
Bye bye Beal.

Just watched Jan's interview with Chris Miller.

Dude has some major swag. Let's just hope he has the game to back it up.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

What makes this guy different from a young Birdman?

Someone please tell me, so that I don't feel depressed.

experience!!!
don't really know much about euro basketball...but I guess I know more then most people here ... I'm Bosnian (born in Canada)

do you have any idea what it takes for serbian team to win in croatia, bosnia, slovenia...
these guys went to war with each other... games over there are nothing like nba ...

I was there this year ....went to Cibona vs Partizan .... and there is lot of racism at those games ... Partizan had few black players.. and Croatians were just SCREAMING "N" word to his face...
I went back to Bosnia ... local league, once again .... same deal
since it's a small city, I asked the guy ... how come you deal with all this, if this happened in US there would be police involved at least!
he explained it as following
"It's not really "USA" kinda racism, it's more about helping your team win and saying anything to players of opposite team that is gonna heart his feelings."
"They are chanting about ethnic cleansing of each other all the time, and chanting about things where thousands of people died just few years back. So I understand that color of my skin doesn't give me exception"

but then said something interesting
"watch out when guys like Vesely and Teodosic go to NBA"
at the time, I was like who???

I looked at some of the stats ...

Partizan had 3 million euros budget, and in 2009/10 season they played final four of euro league!!
against teams with legit nba budget .. even more

and I don't think it was the "players ability" that made it happen ... it was more experience of playing tough games all the time...playing under pressure and confidence

look at this video for example... end of game, partizan lost ... and fans are singing for 10 straight minutes

most of the games he played were like this

James Gist about fans over there

Vesely nice pick hope he turned well for Washington. I watched him many time when he played for Partizan. Long athletic, great dunker, plays solid defence with many blocks... although not so very good shooter.

Guys how much time you think he will get in Wizards ?

He looks like a smart guy (based on his witty comments anyway). What will get you playing time as a rookie is learning the coach's system and following his instructions to the letter, and playing with hustle. I think Vesely will do this, so even if he kind of sucks I imagine he will get a lot of minutes. Depends on how healthy Rashard Lewis is, I don't think he'll start over Rashard if he's healthy, but he should see plenty of time off the bench, 15 minutes per game at least.

That means he'll be on the court with Booker and Seraphin, that should be fun to watch from a hustle standpoint.
I've been taught all my life to value service to the weak and powerless.
