Quick thought at work, so if this sucks be forgiving:
We trade our #3 to Portland for #6, #11.
Trade Seraphin and #11 to Minnesota for D Williams
Take Waiters at #6

I see where you're going, but I'd rather take Beal at 3, and try to come up with another package for DWill. If the price is Seraphin and a mid first, we might be able to do that with Booker+32. I'd prefer that to dropping down from #3.
Could we follow that up with Okafor+Crawford+future first for Iggy?
Nene/FA
Williams/Vesely
Iggy/Singleton
Beal/Ariza
Wall/Mack
Interesting...

D Williams is not better than Seraphin and you also give to Minesota 11#!
Keep Seraphin and draft Meyers Leonard is much better IMO

Trading that much for Williams is a gamble IMO. I'd rather wait and see if Minn eventually sells low on him. Seraphin's production leads me to believe he might be the better pro although I do like the potential Williams exudes.

^ Yeah, you're probably right about that.

Wizards trade: Okafor
Wizards receive: Calderon and Garcia
Raptors trade: Calderon and Johnson
Raptors receive: Okafor
Kings trade: Garcia
Kings receive: Johnson
This assumes that the Kings 1) draft a guard or wing and 2) that they don't want Blatche. Toronto gets a mentor for Valanciunas and creates a spot for Nash. Washington gets veteran backcourt help and saves money in 2013.
If we followed up with some combo of Singleton/Crawford/32 to move up for Ross...
Seraphin/Vesely
Nene/Booker
Ariza/Ross (until he's ready to start)
Beal/Garcia
Wall/Calderon

Not my taste. I'm not enamored with either Garcia or Calderon. Or Ross either. I wouldn't trade for him at all -- in YODA he's in the "don't draft" bin.

Well to be fair to the guy, he does have "In Ernie we trust" in his sig.

You guys are trigger happy or have buck fever, one or the other. Step away from the trading table.

Well, there's two problems. Firstly, Dwight would have to sign an extension upon completion of the trade (which he wouldn't -- if he wasn't going to be happy in LA or other more palatable destinations, he'd never in a million years want to be with this organization long-term). And secondly, they're not getting nearly enough value for him. Ariza, Ves and Crawford are all borderline decent players but nothing that makes a trade look very enticing. Seraphin is nice but unproven and his value in the trade is completely off-set by Blatche who no team in their right mind would want (contract-wise, player-wise and person-wise). The 3 pick is nice but it's not entirely different than, say, the 6th pick. You're going to get a comparable player so I don't think there's as much value as one would believe for our 3rd pick.

The interesting thing in this thread is that we are discovering what the FO found out : hard to get good return in realistic trades and in the end Okafor-Ariza might be the best we could hope for short term... I see the team starting the season as it is. After that you never know, but the most likely result is a full season with this team.

Without hesistation.
I'd then try and flip Okafor for a wing, resign Singleton and buy a late 2nd round pick. If we could trade Okafor plus Singleton for Kevin Martin, draft John Jenkins and Jae Crowder, and resign Singleton, we'd roll with:
PG Wall
SG K.Martin, Jenkins
SF Ariza, Crowder
PF Nene, Booker, J.Singleton
C Dwight, Nene

Re: Official Trade Thread XX (6/22/12 - present)
Seeing the "rumor" in the Draft Forum of #3 and Blatche going to LAL for Pau... adding Okafor in it would make the salaries even. And we know that Ted thinks it's "clever" to make a trade like that. Just sayin...
