1. Nene -- if healthy -- is a terrific player whom we wouldn't want to trade.
2. Nene -- if unhealthy -- isn't a player, and nobody will want to trade for him.

For me, I can see *no trades for veterans* that can help this team. It seems that simple -- a situation we have been put in by the profound efforts of our GM.

Of course, just as you can imagine trading a broken axle and two spare tires for a Mercedes, so you can imagine some moving of deck chairs around the big liner of the NBA that suddenly leavesa bunch of terrific players on the Wizards' roster.

But what we need to do is enhance our store of *future value* -- good young players on the way up and whom we are paying at the low end of their ability to earn.

What about Emeka+Ariza for Amare? We are on the hook for an extra year of Amare's horrible contract, but he's at least an NBA player.

My latest:

Wiz trade 2013 2nd+Emeka+Ariza+Vessley for Bargs+Calderon+Kleiza

Wiz get much needed outside shooting while Raps get a needed defensive players that can play for coach Casey. Calderon is a huge upgrade to man the PG spot and expires. Bargs provides much needed outside shooting.

I would try to get Ed Davis instead of Kleiza.

Moving Okafor and Vesley would free up some playing time for him. I am not thrilled about Bargs, but he might work with some of the Wizards more physical bigs. Bargs might also be able to play PF with Booker at SF, which would create some match-up issues.

I'd rather trade Booker at this point. Ves gives you more versatility and could play some 4 and 5....

I'd avoid Amare. You don't want to take on the extra year. Even if we can't move these guys, their expriing contracts will be more attractive next season as teams try to position themselves for the '14 FA class.

I'd do it. Ernie isn't leading this team to a title anyway. Might as well win 50 games a year for the next 2 or 3 years.

I'm saying this realizing Amare isn't going to play more than 60 games per season.

Amare's conract isn't insured which makes him basically untradeable.

Eww Amare sucks he plays no defence and he's hurt a lot ill pass. He is so overrated once we trade for him you will start to miss Ariza and Okafor. If we had to trade them guys for someone please god not for amare he has low basketball IQ and are team will become softer inside.

Okafor+Crawford to DET for Stuckey+Prince? Saves the Pistons some longterm money and gives the Wiz a combo guard that could be a good compliment to Wall/Beal. Prince also helps us at SF.

Seraphin/Vesely
Nene/Booker/Singleton
Prince/Webster/Ariza
Beal/Stuckey
Wall/Stuckey

IMO, all these recent suggestions simply confirm my point -- none of these trades improve the Wizards future as far as I can see.

At this point I think its better to just leave Ariza and Okafor on the bench and rot. Hope another contender suffers an injury and in desperation considers these two. If that doesn't happen just let them expire in 2 years, and hope the other 13 players actually give a damn about winning, or rather not sucking balls.

I'm most interested in trading Ariza (I'm cool with Okafor and he can be moved much easier than Ariza whenever the time is right). Package one of Vesely or Booker with Ariza and get a starting caliber player in return.

I don't know about a starting caliber player for Ariza, but a crap for crap trade with L.A. may work for us out here. Maybe we'll include Duhon's partially guaranteed deal along with someone to get Ariza back.

I cannot believe this trade has not been proposed...

Ted Leonsis + a future #1 for any other owner
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

This isn't a trade, but after the season Tyreke Evens will be a RFA. Any interest in having him come in and be the back up wing? I think he's not really starter material, but if you put him with the 2nd unit and have him be the irrational confidence guy I think he'd be solid. He'd essentially play the Jordan Crawford role except he has the potential to really thrive in that situation. Have the offense run through him in spurts with the 2nd unit and ride him when he's hot. I consider OJ Mayo a good gauge for his market value and Mayo wasn't highly sought after last off-season.

So much for acquiring veterans, maintaining continuity, and no knuckleheads, but since they seem to be changing and making up rules as they go along, why not? Well, I'll tell you why not. Because that's the grand return savvy EG got for McGee, plus two years' high lottery picks (and yet another high second), in return for a single player their own criteria clearly define as a knucklehead. That's a lot of back pedaling and rationalizing, even for Terd and Ernie. You can almost see them passing on a good player rather than admitting they made a mistake. (And, as much potential as Cousins seems to have, he is kind of a knucklehead, and a tremendously inefficient scorer for such a huge, inside player. )
