Shouldn't that be Blatche's number?
I think the team retired that one when John "Hot Plate" Williams retired.

I'm going to calm down about the 2nd rounder, and remember the feeling I had when we drafted Beal. LOL

Love the pick. I've been firmly planted on the Beal bandwagon for a few months now.
A Wall/Beal backcourt works so well together and will be an NBA staple for the next 10+ years, hopefully.

Wall-Drive and dish PG
Beal-Long range sharpshooter
Ariza-Stopper
Nene and Okafor-Interior scoring and D
I think we can make the playoffs next year.

Love that he's so humble, but it's clear he's a competitor. Some video I just ran across which I hadn't seen before, little bit of highlights tho mostly interviews...

Actually, I think that Hot Plate's number was:
c = π x D
LOL

If Ariza is anything near what he used to be with the Lakers, and if Okafor is a consistent double double. We're definitely going to the playoffs. We can't get rid of Blatchey soon enough.

I wouldn't say overrated, but people are definitely expecting too much. My guess is he won't be that much better than Crawford next season. He's coming off a decent freshman year in college, so I don't expect him to be anything more than a 10/3 guy at best. Year 2 and 3 is where he gets much better.

Re: Bradley Beal
I wasn't sold on Beal until a couple days ago when I started listening to his interviews (most notably on The Fan a couple days ago). He sound like he knows what he can do, what he has to do, and knows it won't be an easy path. Humble, smart, and dedicated. Those are the qualities you look for (along with God given talent) in a difference maker.
I thought Lamb > Beal for quite awhile now, but I'm slowly backing off. I think both will end up as very good players in this league. I'd of been happy with a trade-down while picking Lamb, but I'm just as happy with Beal.
And just my opinion: Harrison Barnes will be a pretty dang good player. I know, I know this is a Beal thread but I just had to throw it out there.

Re: Bradley Beal
My pick would have been MKG. But I'm not going to react by saying Ernie Grunfeld is stupid and should have traded up to #2 take MKG, even though I still think MKG is the clear #2 guy in this draft.
Beal is a better fit right now and he would have been my choice with MKG off the board, so I'm not super bummed. I really have a feeling that MKG is going to be special though, so this may hurt a little bit down the road.
2012 Wizards are no joke. Wall-Beal-Ariza-Okafor-Nene w/ book-KS-Ves-singleton-crawford off the bench. I think we'll be top 10 in D and rebounding, barring injuries.

Yeah, unlike the guy that was a defensive specialist drafted in the top 5.

So relieved to have Beal in DC. We should have the best backcourt in the Nba in 3 years

Re: Bradley Beal
Very glad Beal fell to us despite Cleveland almost pulling that trade off. I suspect Beal is going to be a very good pro and that what he showed late in the season and during the tournament was what we can expect.
I heard that Billy Donovan said that the reason Beal was hesitant earlier in the season was that he was trying not to step on the toes of the returning upperclassmen. He's really, really smart and that's why Presti and other smart GMs were angling to move up to get him.
That's why I have a feeling he'll turn out to be a better pro than Wall. I'll revisit that thought after summer league.

Felt that way in the first interview I saw posted on DraftX

With the Wiz needs a SG, great character and youth at this position coming into this draft I went looking and saw this and never looked back. I was locked in. Robinson got my attention along the way because he is impressive and another character guy with talent but Beal just seemed such perfect as a fit for need and he seemed to be an awesome kid and smart. Always been a Ray Allen fan so the similarity worked for me.
He will be effective this year. I imagine he will start as a spot of 3 ball shooter. Then over time he will start to play off of that. I trust Randy will bring him along properly. I expect Crawford to start the year and I think they will resign Mason so they can bring him along. By 25 games he will hopefully be getting 15-20 minutes a game.

Watch through to the end and he talks about Beal and the Wizard. He really gets pumped.
And he makes a call out to CCJ
