I've read in a few places EJ Is gone too? Chuck Person to take over?

Lakers are in a world of hurt. They need a real coach to control these older guys/personalities.

They're probably going to hire D'Antoni. Also rumors about Sloan.

Think about this -- In his time with the Lakers, Mike Brown coached them to a 3rd seed in the West, where they lost in the 2nd round to the eventual Western Conference champs. After a 1-4 start, he was fired.

Under Ernie Grunfeld's leadership, the Wizards have a .392 winning percentage through 9 full seasons (plus 3 games). They've had 4 consecutive seasons of 26 wins or fewer. In five of his 9 full seasons, the Wizards have had 26 wins or fewer. He gets a contract extension.

Wow! Eddie Jordan strikes again! This time after only five games. I have absolutely nothing to say about that! lol

Bernie Bickerstaff is apparently the coach tonight!

My first thought too. It's just a different level of expectations from the ownership & the front office of both teams. Lakers expect to win titles. The Wizards hope to make the playoffs.

Under Grunfeld's leadership, Wizards have had:

- league's 3rd worst winning percentage
- 2nd worst SRS (a better measure of team strength, combining scoring margin with strength of schedule)
- 5 seasons (out of 9 full) of 26 wins or fewer
- 4 consecutive seasons of 26 wins or fewer

And, somehow at the end of last season, Ted extended his contract?

But now he is contractually obligated to GM the Wizards, rather than having to acquire a GM on the uncertain GM free agency market.

That .392 winning percentage over nine years is nothing to sneeze at. That's just a shade under 40%, which is only ten percent less than the magic .500 level, which is the holy grail of attainment for this franchise.

Mike D coached Nash and he also coached Kobe with Team USA. Both D'Antoni and Bryant speak fluent Italian.

That's the right move for the Lakers. Their next move: Trade Pau Gasol for Amare Stoudemire

Amare cannot play well with Carmelo Anthony because they're too similar in the post. Pau, would give NYK a C/PF who with his passing could play very well with Carmelo. He could play with Tyson Chandler. His game is similar to Rasheed Wallace. With all that size the Knicks could punish the Heat even more.

For the Lakers, if Mike D'Antoni were coach, whatever Amare has left he would produce playing with Kobe, Dwight Howard, and Steve Nash.

I hope this all goes down.
Bye bye Beal.

How is MIN without their 2 best players in Love and Rubio still manage to win games? Chase Budinger is playing real well for them. Can't believe he's signed for 3 years at $3.28 million. Also can't believe that he was drafted late in second round of 2009? isnt' that the year we traded Rubio pick for Miller/Foye. And then in 2nd round we drafted some guy named Jermaine Tyler and traded to HOU to cut costs. Budinger was available when we picked.

Kyrie Irving, for how much people been touting him as being better than Wall, sure can't keep his To's down. His ast to turnover ratio of his carrer has been horrible. 1.56 is horrible for a starting PG but some people here was saying he was a better passer as well. Small sample size of course but last season wasn't much better

Kyrie Irving is a big time scorer and one of the best shooters in the NBA. But his feel for running an NBA team isn't very good yet. That's part of the reason why they wanted Waiters in the draft, a guy who can facilitate offense as well and allow Irving to play off the ball and run off screens to get himself open looks.

Wall will never shoot or score like Irving, but Irving isn't creating shots for others like Wall is. Nor will he ever rebound or defend and get to the rim like Wall can. Irving has a significant advantage right now but Wall can close the gap by become a credible threat from the perimeter and eliminating the sloppy TOs.

Memphis is straight blowing out Miami.

One thing I noticed is Miami never plays well against the Grizzlies.

Memphis is the one team that has EVERYTHING to beta Miami. Conley is super-quick and Miami has no one to defend him. I think he's the most underrated player in the NBA. The frontcourt is their identity. Bosh can't check Marc Gasol or ZBO. Plus, they have Haddadi, Speights, and Arthur (when he comes back) as quality backups. Gay and Allen are athletically gifted to defend Lebron and Wade. Pondexter was a quality trade.

mhd, I was surprised Quincy Pondexter didn't make it with the Hornets. At draft time, I liked Pondexter and remember thinking he would be a good pick for the Wizards. He is finally doing well with the Grizzlies.

Although O. J. Mayo is playing very well with the Clippers, the Grizzlies are playing as well or better than ever with Ellington and Pondexter instead of Mayo. The Grizzlies are loaded with talent.

They have Speights, a big PF who can score and rebound off their bench. Josh Selby and Tony Wroten are athletic combo guards deep in their depth chart, behind Jarryd Bayless. Any one of those guys would get a lot of minutes or start for the Wizards (with Wall out). Memphis also has a superstar-level athlete in Rudy Gay, an athletic PG in Conley, and two bruising big men, Randolph and Gasol.

They are talented enough to beat any team on a given night, but just lack a little athleticism among their bigs. I think the Grizzlies would love to have a guy like Vesely who can get points in transition and do the little things.

I wonder if Vesely for Selby and a pick is doable?
Bye bye Beal.
