Got to watch and listen to TNT announcer at halftime show highlights of good plays by Javale Mcgee, and praise his progress now that the has a "good coach" and mentors, per Charles Barkley. "Now that he's out of that other place" is the phrase Barkley used. Says he sees Javale having a better future now. I'm not sure how well George Karl is coaching. McGee had 18 points (9-12FG), 6 rebounds, 4 blocks but only played 21 minutes. Javale finished +14 for the time he played in a game Denver lost.

Even with Faried as a teammate, Javale McGee is #3 in the NBA in offensive rebound percentage. McGee's PER is 24.6

Strangely, he plays about eight minutes less per game with Denver than with Washington.

Ty Lawson has been shooting miserably since signing his new deal, and since Afflalo was traded. Iguodala is a bad fit next to Lawson, who finished 0-7 and 0 points.

The good news for Denver is that Jordan Hamilton looks like a 20-22 PPG stud and perhaps will be an all star, if he maintains some pretty phenomenal form. Hamilton in very brief moments seems to be what Wizard fans hope Brad Beal becomes.

If it was any other player I'd assume that's a misprint.

Javale had a nice stat line, but watching the game it was painfully obvious that there are still so many holes in his game defensively and playing off the ball that it renders those numbers pretty useles.

Hopefully The defensive side of JaVale's game will catch-up to his offense...he is still developing.

No, that's not going to happen IMO. He needs to play with another big player who can defend the paint. He's not it. Javale is like a weird PF. He's not a true C, despite his height IMO.

I've always thought Javale is best used as an offensive weapon. Of all the people in the world who are stretch, face up shooters, this guy's physique begs he be used that way. That he can't shoot jumpers now doesn't mean he can't learn to. His midrange shot is farther along than John Wall's three.

I think the Nuggets are going to trade him, eventually, and wherever he ends up Javale's best scoring years are ahead of him. McGee is going to average over 20 PPG and make an all star appearance or two before all is said and done. It won't shock me at all to see him on a championship team in 5 or so years.

I also heard the comments that the TNT crew (mostly Barkley) made about McGee. What you neglected to mention is that Barkley also said that McGee needed to be on a team (like Denver) where he was surrounded by vet, mature players because Javale needs that kind of guidance and leadership, which was pretty much the same thing most of us on this board were saying when McGee was a member of the Zards.

Yes, it was a knock on the Zards but it was also pointed out that McGee's immaturity was also a big part of the problem.

To Barkley: he has a point about maturity, but the "veteran" stuff is nonsense.

Denver's average age this season: 26.2.

The Wizards were young McGee's last two seasons with the team: 24.2 last year and 24.9 the year before that. However, his first two years, the Wizards were just as "veteran" as Denver, perhaps more "veteran" -- avg. age 27.6 in 09-10 and 26.9 in 08-09.

This year, Denver's "veteran" leaders are Iguodala (age 29) and Andre Miller (36). During McGee's rookie year, the Wizards at various times had on their roster veterans like: Antonio Daniels, Etan Thomas, Brendan Haywood, Juan Dixon, Darius Songaila, Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison. Somehow the presence of all those veterans didn't provide McGee with "guidance and leadership."

In his 2nd season, the mix changed, but they still had vets around like Haywood, Jamison, Arenas, Mike Miller, Earl Boykins, James Singleton, Fabricio Oberto and Josh Howard.

Even when they went young in his 3rd season, they had "veterans" like Hinrich, Rashard Lewis, Mo Evans, and Josh Howard. In his last season with the team, they Roger Mason, Lewis and Evans.

Perhaps the Wizards had the wrong veterans. Or maybe "veterans" isn't the solution. The team had a problem with maturity, but age/experience doesn't connote experience. Faried, for example, is mature (and has been mature for years) even though he's just 22.

This is more than a semantic issue. The Wizards decided their problem was immaturity caused by lack of veterans and too many young players. But the issue wasn't the age/experience of the players, but the players themselves.

There's a political saying that the problem isn't too much money in politics, it's too many politicians who have a pricetag. The McGee corollary is this: McGee's problem in Washington wasn't that he had too many immature teammates, it was that he was personally immature.

I'm pretty excited to watch the Rockets and the Lakers go at it tonight. I'm predicting video game numbers for Harden but Lakers rout easily behind a potential 20/20 game for Howard though Asik has been a monster on the boards this season.
