What would the Wizards have to give up to get Evan Turner? I'm thinking Nene considering they are in need of a big man. Would offering Jordan Crawford, Trevor Booker, Emeka Okafor, and both 2013 2nd rd picks be too little, too much, or could it work?

I wouldn't give up a ton for Turner. I don't see much special there. Best season of his career, and he rates about average in my stuff. Offensive efficiency is actually a shade below average.

  1. Zeller -- score is consistent with a #1-#1 pick in most drafts.
  2. Noel -- rating is good enough to be the top pick in some drafts; top 5 pick in most
  3. Len -- top 10 pick in most drafts
  4. Muhammad & Poythress -- identical scores thus far; consistent with mid-first round picks -- after 15

Nivek, could you clarify the relationship between your YODA and ASS systems? Are they completely independent of each other, or did you pull YODA out of your ASS somehow? Thanks.

YODA was originally was part of my ASS. It wasn't a good fit. I finally removed YODA from my ASS using a procedure known as DRE.

DRE sounds like the sh*t.

Question for anyone / everyone. Players like Josh Smith, Keven Love, Zach Randolph and Faried intrigue me with their overachieving accomplishments in the face of what appears to be average athleticism and physical appearance. Can their extraordinary mojo be quantified in some way to predict similar overachievers in future drafts?

Smith and Faried are athletic freaks. Love is also an excellent athlete -- his athletic test results were the same as Beasley's, and Beasley was said to be a great athlete.

Josh Smith is freakishly athletic and so is Kenneth Faried.

When Josh Smith was a rookie i saw him block 10 shots in a game without a foul. Think about that for a minute.

Nivek or someone else on the board compared measurables of Beasley and Love as they were entering the draft. My recollection is that the numbers (size, speed, strength, leap, etc.) were remarkably similar, but contemporaneous descriptions of the two (also included in the post) seemed to defy these numbers, with Beasley described more as a fast and freakishly athletic player, and Love described more as a slower, floor bound, fundamentally sound player. Maybe there was a lot of stereotyping going on, and it may still follow Love.

The tank was strong with the tank commander tonight. One down. Four more to go.

As for Turner. I would give up nothing for him. Just not interesting in adding him to the team.

As for slots. If they keep Crawford and he proves to be a good PG in Wall and Prices absence, you can free up another slot. That gives them 10 players.

With Jabari Parker just committing to Duke, he may stay a couple years so probably no Parker in 2014, I digress

lets not repeat the past.
lets not take another kwame brown over tyson chandler.
i think len will be the chandler of this draft. i'm not really high on noel or zeller. i think we need to start watching the back end of the first as well for people to fall to use in the 2ed round. NO MORE EURO TOSS AWAY'S.
Also we should look to pick up more picks.

Going to Duke doesn't mean he won't leave. Look at Rivers and Kyrie in very recent years. Super highly rated, left after 1 year.

I think a big 3 is emerging with Len, Noel, and Bennett in play. My preference is first Len, and then Noel.

I think Noel has been insanely impressive this season. Len's got all the boxes checked AND his team is playing well but Noel's hustle/play/production has been out of this world. He's Anthony Davis but with less offense and possibly more defense. He's the next Dwight Howard.

alex len out played noel when they played and hes been out playing him since. noel might be a great defender, but he is average on the offensive end. len is a very nice defender and great on the offensive end. to be truthful another year in college could turn them both in to stars. I'm not saying your wrong about noel, i just like len a little bit more.

That's the same procedure that they'll used to remove Larry Michael from Dan Snyder when the time comes.

I was all aboard the Len train after that season opener but I've since talked myself down in favor of Noel because:

1) Len is a sophomore and as polished as he is, he's a far cry from actually polished sophomores like Zeller and Sullinger.

2) On the flip side, as polished as Len is, he's not much more productive than Noel. 3 more ppg as the 1b option for Maryland as opposed to Noel's status as solidly the 3rd option on a stacked yet underperforming UK squad.

3) The steals/blocks! What kind of animal averages 3 steals and 4 blocks a game? 5th in blocks and 12th in steals in all of NCAA.

4) 2.1apg. For a 3rd option sushi-raw big man that plays sub-30mpg that is astronomically high. Noah had 2.1apg his sophomore season. Greg Monroe had 2.3 his freshman season. Love put up 1.9. Bogut: 2.2. Horford had 2.2. That's pretty good company to be in. Compare that to Drummond's 0.4apg and even Cousin's 1.0.

I like Len and I think he'll be a great pro in the mold of Hibbert, Bogut, Marc Gasol and other traditional centers but Noel is a speedier, more defensively capable C like Noah and Howard. I just think Noel will make for a more dynamic player and fit better with what little talent we have on the roster.
