EG had a solid offseason? Wow, what grading curve are we basing this on? SMH at having such a low level of expectations.

See the problem is Abe and has always been Abe and will always be Abe. Abe built a culture of losing...ah but they were loyal, accepting, and companionate, which is all that matters, amirite? Then he hand picks his successor who endeared himself to Abe because they share the same redeeming qualities like loyalty, acceptance, and compassion. Ted doesn't fall far from the Abe tree so it's going to be same old as long as his pockets are getting fat.

In Teds mind who cares if the team sucks? As long as they’re not paying the tax and not a complete laughing stock anymore, why try to win? It’s easier to make excuses for why they suck (injuries, poor year to be in the lotto, players don’t want to sign here) than it is to put in the effort to win. Plain and simple, they’re just not interested.

How were the moves from this past offseason not solid? What FA big has outplayed Emeka? Beal was a solid pick and was on a roll til the wrist injury...and Webster has been a good addition. Ernie's problems are his earlier failures. Because the '11 draft picks suck, this past offseason is not viewed as enough, but it was still solid. That being said,I'd still fire him because Wittman is just not a good coach and that was his hire. Also, I think you can't miss as badly as he did in the '11 draft.

295-470

Anything beyond that is pure excuse-making.

295-470

That's all that matters.

Ernie Grunfeld is STILL one of the worst general managers in professional sports history. Going 7-4 before the All-Star break doesn't change that.

^Not sure who disagrees, I was just trying to isolate the discussion to this past offseason. I still think he offset his positive moves by hiring Wittman, and in the end his hit & miss nature is what will cost him. Giving me his overall record isn't a newsflash....Who doesn't know that? Wait, is that excuse making?

You have to point to the record because people just talk about "Well, he was handcuffed by Abe" or "Well, he didn't completely **** himself THIS offseason" - it's not just about individual moves, it's about overall strategy and organizational direction.

If you compare them, Mike Shanahan/Bruce Allen have probably made more errors than Ernie Grunfeld since 2010. But which franchise would you rather have? The 2012 Redskins going forward (even in a worst case apocalyptic scenario with RGIII's knee, which probably is unlikely as the Redskins team jet getting blown up by Al Qaeda) or the 2012 Wizards?

The difference is, the Redskins completely overhauled the roster, admitted mistakes, and brought in guys who can play especially from the draft since 2010.

The Wizards have two recent drafts ... 2009 and 2011 which are just unacceptable and set the franchise back. They also sold picks in the 2nd round that could have been solid players off the bench.

I just named the 2 best places in Baltimore. What else do you want? I guess The Helmand is pretty good. And Papermoon.

Congrats on the graduation. I finished up at Towson 2 years ago.

Oddly enough, never been to The Get Down. Love that area, though.

Klay Thompson dropped 32 last night, Marcus Morris has been a versatile stretch-4 providing very good 3-point shooting. The 0-3 2011 draft set us back years.

Marcus Morris and Patrick Patterson seem a bit redundant to me. Both are undersized stretch-4's who don't rebound well but can provide nice floor spacing on offense. Their numbers are virtually identical.

I wonder if Houston would be interested in trading one of them for Vesely. At least Vesely gives them a dimension they lack with his rangy defense.

Houston has Donatas and they are barely using him, I don't see them adding another tall Euro, but I would take just about any JV trade.
