looks like mullen(s) and aminu are alot better than Crowder and Mo Almond. Wish we had traded for one of those two players.

4-year vet Mullens and year 3-vet Aminu are both getting minutes and looking better than in the past, but Crowder's a rookie, yet he has a better WS/48 than the other two. Almond, well, that's another story.

Okay, the Wizards Moral Victory Tour (© Kevin Broom) rolls along at 0-11. The record for starting the season in total futility are the NJ Nets (0-18). Can the Wizards be all they can be and break the record. Here are the games we'd have to lose in order to break the record.

Wizards schedule after 11/24 loss to Charlotte

Monday, Nov 26 -- vs San Antonio
Wednesday, Nov 28 -- vs Portland
Friday, Nov 30 -- at New York
Tuesday, Dec 4 -- vs Miami
Friday, Dec 7 -- at Atlanta
Saturday, Dec 8 -- vs Golden State
Tuesday, Dec 11 -- at New Orleans (this loss would tie us at 0-18)
Wednesday, Dec 12 -- at Houston

We might have to worry about Portland (6-6) and Golden State (7-6) at home, and we played Atlanta at their place close. But the real test may not come until December 11th at the (currently) 3-8 New Orleans Hornets.

What say you all? Can we achieve the record?

I fully expect us to fail at failing; we will go 0-17, then win game 18

I suspect we’ll get one that we don’t think we should. There always seems to be one win we get every year that we have no business getting. Last year it was the Thunder when we were 1-12. Two years ago it was Utah when, with only four away games remaining, we got our second road win and avoided a record-tying 1-40 road record. In 2009-10, it was an early win against LeBron and the Cavs when we came in 2-7 and on a six-game skid. If recent history holds, we could knock off San Antonio or Miami. Sounds impossible right now, I know. But that’s the point.

What I find quite amusing Nivek is that CSN has picked up on those stats and how Buckhantz has mentioned it and back to back games now as if it was some sort of silver lining.

What a joke.

This was wasn't even a moral victory (® Kevin Broom). One down, seven more to go in order to achieve the record.

0-16 before we have a legit shot at picking up the first season victory.

The problem, we face a Golden State team that has no problem putting up numbers.

Can we get a thread title update.

Give them their do. 0-12 is no small accomplishment.

We might not be the best 0-12 team ever though. Not after what San Antonio dropped on us.

I'm no stat guru but I can cherrypick with the best of them. Here is some of my findings (before the SA shellacking gets updated to B-R. I can update this tomorrow):

-Vesely has more fouls than rebounds.
-6/15 roster players can power forwards and yet we only have 1 legitimate shooting guard.
-We supposedly have a roster to complement THE best penetrating guard and yet no players on our team that cracks 40% from 3.
-Martel Webster is hands down the best player we've got right now and yet he's 8th in minutes played.
-Webster's made more FT's than Ariza's taken despite playing in 66 less (25% less) minutes.
-Other than pargo, Ariza is the most inefficient scorer on the team. Less efficient than even Vesely.
-Vesely has more fouls than shot attempts (or points).
-Of the 9 guys that have started for the wizards, 4 shoot below 40%, 4 shoot above, and 1 shoots exactly 40%.
-AJ price has jacked more 3's than Webster's taken shots.
-Price is 3rd in shot attempts but 9th in FT attempts.
-Price has already been surpassed in FT attempts by Nene in only 2 games.
-Ves, Singleton, and Barron would all foul out per-36.
-Vesely has more shot attempts (and points) than rebounds.
-The wizards collectively have taken 54 more shots than their opponents but made 15 less field goals.
-The wizards have played 100 more minutes than the Grizzlies but have scored 120 less points.
-The heat lead the league in fg% at 49% and the Wizards are dead last at 39%
-No team since the 60's have shot less than 40%. The closest was the '99 lockout bulls.

Mo Almond should never give up on his dream. What I hope happens for Almond is that he gets back on a D-League roster and he gets called up by a team like the Spurs, Thunder, or Grizzlies later this year if they have injuries. Sometimes a little luck can make a big difference in a career.

P. J. Tucker bounced out of the NBA in 2006, and he's on a roster today with the Suns playing nearly 20 minutes a game. http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... epj01.html

From ages of 22 to 27, Roger Mason was a HORRIBLE NBA player whose career PER and WS/48 were lower than Almond's through his Mo's present age of 27. Roger Mason's career numbers improved when he was 27. http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... nro01.html

Last season, Almond was on the court for the Wizards 26 minutes in a win over Cleveland. Almond was on the court 26 minutes in win over the Miami. The Wizards WON all 4 games Almond played.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... elog/2012/

The player who had the greatest net + ratio on the Wizards was Morris Almond. http://www.82games.com/1112/1112WAS.HTM

For the 66 minutes that Morris Almond played for the Wizards, the score per-48 minutes was Wizards 109.6 - Opponents 85.1, to a rounded +24.6 for Wizards. When he was off the court (3000+ minutes) the Wizards were a -7.4.

Morris Almond rated a +31.0 with him on the court.

What the Wizards SHOULD HAVE DONE was bring back James Singleton, Shelvin Mack, and Morris Almond; in addition to Cartier Martin.

They should have traded Jordan Crawford because for all the points he gets they would be better off playing "sorry" Morris Almond. What I KNOW is the guy is intelligent and he will not hurt a team and he showed a real improvement on defense. The guy was scared and missed some shots but he will not hurt a team like Crawford consistently does.

The Wizards could have brought back those guys, drafted Beal, signed Lou Williams and Brand; and gone at it this season with those guys.

I would have waited to amnesty Blatche and simply bought out Lewis.

The team that won 6 games at the end of last season did so against weak competition, but did so with Vesely, Seraphin, Martin, and James Singleton all flowing together (with Crawford). They had Nene as a leader but he missed games then, too.

Washington and fans always like to single out certain players, but as far as I'm concerned the only things Morris Almond did bad were to shoot 6-17 and to look stiff at times. His play was QUITE effective, especially the 5 steals against the Heat.

Only a team with a really bad GM would fail to notice that guys like James Singleton, Shelvin Mack, and Almond were a part of some success last season.

More statistical fun:

- 47 players are attempting 4.3 or more 3pt shots per game this season. Brad Beal ranks 40th (dead last) in eFG% with .391. He ranks 33rd (.327) out of 47 in 3pt%.
- Trevor Ariza has an eFG% of .362, worst in the history of the franchise for players who've started more than 10 games and played more than 22 minutes.
- Brad Beal and Emeka Okafor are shooting .391 and .404 eFG -- 6th and 7th worst in franchise history.

Updated after last night's San Antonio game, idea from Truth About It.

Also, Jan Vesely has more fouls (34) than shots (30), rebounds (29) or points (29.) He is historically awful.

This has to be the most amazing statistic I have ever seen. There have been a handful of "goons" in the NBA who foul more than they score, (guys like Greg Kite or Chris Dudley) but at least they rebound. I wouldn't be surprised if nobody has ever achieved 30 fouls before getting 30 points or 30 boards. Good God! Get him off the team! He is one of the worst busts of the decade.

12 players since 1985-86 have accomplished 30+ personal fouls while scoring fewer than 30 points and grabbing fewer than 30 rebounds.

The list:

  1. Michael Curry
  2. Vesely
  3. Granville Waiters
  4. Jeff Cross
  5. Cedric Bozeman
  6. Eric Snow
  7. Jay Humphries
  8. Aleksandar Radojevic
  9. Evan Eschmeyer
  10. Mike Williams
  11. Michael Stewart
  12. William Cunningham

Clearly a precursor to multiple All-Star appearances.

Shout out to Nivek and his Moral Victories tracker for getting linked to by Grantland:

You may have heard that the Washington Professional Basketball Team has not won a game this season. They have been close in several and played hard in most, and they certainly lead the league in moral victories.
