I think this post by Kev, above, is all that needs to be said.

HOF post by Kevin. I wish I had those numbers readily available (well with the analysis attached of course).

Interesting headline.

"Jan Vesely Appears To Believe He Is Guarded By Ghosts"

It almost looks like he practiced the move so he went to it. But with no one around him, so the headline is fitting.

On a side note, ignore Ves for a second and look at every other player on the Denver team during the play, not one player moves toward the basket to get a pass or attempt to rebound.

But if you watch the entire play on nba.com, its a very anti Ves move. He gets the ball after a pick and its early in the shot clock after the transitioned up the court. The Ves we know would have passed that to someone with a quickness and set another pick and rolled to the basket.

Clearly this taking more shots thing is going to take some time for him to get his brain around. lol

If he was actually going to take that shot, just come off the pick, get the pass and go up. But pick and pop to Ves wouldn't be the first thing I would get worked out with him. lol

Tonight. DEN vs BRK. Ves vs Dray A classic match up for the ages. Watch two Wizard outcasts go head to head. If Denver is smart, they will run run run like Portland did to BRK last night. 124-80. To bad Lawson is still out.

At the end of the third quarter. Here is Vesely's line.

1 point (0-3 fg, 1-2 ft), 2 boards, 1 dime, 2 turns, -16 in 11 minutes of play.

Hard to say that I am wrong. Easy to see, though. Vesely looks very uncomfortable and awkward. He's not going to do anything but go back to Europe.

Jan makes the SI All Tank Team. And yes, the infamous "ghost defender" clip is used here.

Hahaha I can see them in practice. Vesely, practice a pump fake! It'll make you unstoppable, you can blow by your man easily! He practiced it so hard that when he was wide open he felt compelled to do it.

Which, respectfully, is where he should have stayed for the first two years of his career... he had no business being on an NBA roster as a rookie... we could have also sent him down the D league. But, best would have been to let him develop in Europe.

Agree with this. The Wizards should have identified his faults early (then they would have skipped drafting him) and sent him the the D-League with a coaching assistant for most of his first couple of years. At a minimum he would have been more a useful basketball players....perhaps.

Miss drafted
Miss managed

But hey, Lawson has returned. They beat Dallas last night. Ves didn't play but they look so different when they have Lawson. He is so important to that team. I expect them to first try to stop the bleeding, then they might give Ves a shot to see how he integrates. I still say if used properly, he can contribute.

But if things stay the way they are with him riding the bench, obviously there is a much bigger chance he goes back overseas where he is a bigger fish is a smaller pond.

At 23, I wonder if he goes back if he would ever try to return.

That article was pretty depressing if I were rooting for Jan. And he has been piling up DNP-CDs now in Denver, too...

Yup, Denver kicked the tires and decided yeah, this guy is a bust.

Jan will get a deal from a Euro team, but Jan isn't even that good by Euro standards. Jan just isn't an NBA caliber player.

I wouldn't say that. He seems to do just fine in the various European teams he has played for. For whatever reason, they have managed to find a way to hide his weaknesses better in that setting. It also helps that Vesely doesn't play like a scared little girl when he plays against that competition.

I think what closq00 is saying is that Jan wasn't even a star or big time player overseas. He basically was a flashy role player who could throw down big time dunks on the break. Looking at his advanced numbers he was a quality role player but no one you'd assume NBA stardom for. From overseas role player to high lottery pick... I'm at loss for how one could make such a leap.

Had been counting my fingers for the biggest showdown of the season in Mile High. Now not quite sure if he plays at all when wiz visits there.

Return to Washington Wizards
