I used to hang out in this parking lot before and after concerts, sporting events, WWF wrestling etc...
I drive by it all the time (beltway) but I have only been back there twice since the new shopping center was bulit. The new shopping center sucks. If I remember correctly they built a new movie theater and it had a police car parked in front of it. That was 7 years ago. I have not been back since.

I used to work at the Blvd at Office Depot and that was 6 years ago. The worse mistake for that place was extending the metro there. It got ratchet very fast there, nothing but baby wannabe thugs wanna fight there all the time and its pretty disappointing. I haven't been back there to shop since I left.

Depressing. I went to Largo H.S. in the eighties. You could walk or run from there. So many great memories for a dark place where the telescreen never worked right, the sky suites were too high and there was no metro stop close by.

But that place had charm unlike the Verizon Center and you didn't have to play $25 to park. Always feel sad when I drive by it on 495, which is rare now that I live in Bmore.

Someone please invent virtual reality already, so Wes can live in peace in 1985 for the rest of his days. Here I'll help... It would be such an ignorant thing to do, if the Russians love their children too... There's a choice we're makin', we're saving our own lives, it's true we make a better day, just you and me... Screw New Coke... Those are three names I've always enjoyed: Marvin, Velma and Provo... I'm not a nyphomanic, I'm a pathological liar... You might not be ready for it, but your kids are gonna love it...

You remind me of my dad with a bottle of gin and endless hours flipping through old slides of his travels, projected on the living room wall. Live in the now, man...

I have some great memories from that building.

The four different parking lots -- liberty bell, american eagle, stars and stripes, and.....?

Remember the "portals" -- the numbered entrances that led to the various sections?

Caps PA announcer Marv Brooks was fantastic.

Before we rocked the red we "wore white on Saturday night:

Sigh. My dad and I had shared season tickets in a pool with a few other families from '85-'94. I saw lots and LOTS of Caps games during that time, including a few barnburner OT games in the playoffs (including the '87 Islanders game that was the longest playoff game at the time.) Lots of fond memories of the old barn.

Saw lots of excellent Grateful Dead concerts and several mediocre basketball games there. Miss the place for the memories, but I FAR prefer the Verizon center for its Chinatown location and metro accessability. I go to many more Wizards games now that I can make a spur of the moment decision to go.

I was at this concert. Not the best rendition, but the live concerts almost surreal. People had a great time and you felt like you knew everybody there.

LOL

I remember pulling into the lot for Beach Boys - Chicago summer of 1974
Me inhaling on the (rhymes with Kong) only to look up out the car window
at a mounted police officer. Good thing my hit was the last we had.
Officer took the implement and tried to break it on the pavement
but that plastic was tough I tell you. We had a good laugh later about
that but we were smart enough to wait (and dumb enough to be in that
situation in the first place) and not laugh at his frustration and not being
able to break it. One of my luckier moments. Coulda easily wound up in jail.

I remember seeing lots of concerts there. Springsteen when the girls
would go in the mens room and pee in the sinks cause the line in the
womens room was too long. Dead shows, The Who, Little Feat-Dave Mason.
CSNY, Eric Clapton, Allman Bros, Kinks and Ten Years After, Led Zep

Webber and Howards first game together vs BOS (we lost)
Webber and Howard with Sheed and Robert Pack vs the Lakers - we won!
Wes and Elvin.
Doc J's last reg season game
Kareem in his last year.

Adam Carolla (of Man Show fame) often cites the late 70's and early 80's as the best era in American history because it's pre-AIDS, mid-coke.

I remember singing the national anthem for a regular season game between the 'zards and the bucks with a church choir (my friend's church, not mine) as an 10 year old and then missing half the 1st quarter in the time it took to move from the court up to our seats.
