Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Wall interview
http://www.nba.com/wizards/video/2013/0 ... mv-2349549

Speed kills.

A few more fast break points and 5-6 FTAs plus better passing from the PG to give Beal and Webster open looks. Going to sweet to see.

When Wall comes back the team becomes the new Showtime! Faster than a speeding Bullet!

Wall, Beal, Vesley shows up because he's capable of running, Nene, and Okafor!

We turn it around and go plus .500 from the all-star break!

As bad as we've been, it's not like teams have been blowing us out the water night in and night out. Most of the games have been very close. Our players are just....just....dumb. We snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. We're so freaking good at it!

Heat wave in the land down-under. Its almost half that now though, thankfully. Some of the hottest temperatures in the country since they started keeping a record. The whole state was basically on fire for a while there.

I'm not sure it's because are players are dumb, just not very good at putting
the ball in the basket which turns out to be kinda important.

Looking like everyone but Martin may be ready to go.

Thursday afternoon, with point guard John Wall dribbling, cutting and driving as if he’s on track to play for the first time this season on Saturday night against the Atlanta Hawks at Verizon Center.

Coach Randy Wittman also is keeping open the possibility of having guard Jordan Crawford and center Nene back in the lineup, meaning the Wizards may be able to field their most complete lineup to date.

“Again, we’ll see,” Wittman said. “We’ll see what either of them do tomorrow and go from there. I don’t want to rule one way or the other anything yet with another full day of practice ahead.”

There’s also a chance forward Trevor Booker makes it back for Saturday night’s game.

“We have people injured, big pieces,” Booker said. “We’ll see now what we’re made of. I’m ready, back to my usual self. Sometimes you’ve got to be more patient. You could injure yourself even more, but I think I’m ready now. I’m ready to go.”

Nene is producing at least as well as the majority of last year's all-star forwards and centers, despite not having a secondary playmaker or shotmaker to draw defenses' attention.

Washington has been 18.8 points per 48 minutes better when Nene has been on the court this year
The reason the team gets so much better isn't that complicated. Not only does Nene play very well as an individual on both ends of the court, he's also an excellent playmaker who allows Washington's bevy of spot up shooters and garbage bucket specialists play to their strengths. Someone like Martell Webster has a lot of value when he's spotting up in the corners and focusing his energy on playing good positional defense. When he's forced to create shots for himself or other players off the dribble? Not so much.

Washington will start winning enough games to get Nene some recognition around the league. Last year's Wizards were outscored by an average of 4.8 points per 48 minutes. When Nene and Wall played together? Washington outscored their opponents by 10.4 points per 48 minutes. It'll be interesting to see if that keeps up.

Wall. Nene. Beal. It's going to be fun to finally see all three along with the defensive, running support cast.

Nene says, Wall is fast. Big smiles from Nene. Seems really happy to play tomorrow.

Only MEM has beat both Miami and OKC. And the Wiz beat OKC without Wall, Crawford and Nene :o
Mem is .697 at 23-10

What's sad is I used to be one of the more optimistic people on this board. But the Wizards have finally broken me.

Right now they're playing like Chicago did with a healthy Derrick Rose. Defenders are playing well and there is suddenly a lot of depth. If Price, Ariza, Temple, and Okafor keep this up; and the young guys keep playing with confidence, they'll keep winning.
Bye bye Beal.

I seem to remember saying a million times that our team is built around a star point guard slashing and distributing, and that our Achilles heal is that most of our players can't create their own shot. With Wall, our players get that extra step to convert their shots. And our young players are better able to develop and gain confidence from it. All of the above was predictable when thinking in terms of team dynamics versus individual statistics.

That said, we still need a high draft pick to reach our highest potential.
