Wizards @ Nuggets - 1/18/13 - 9:00 PM EST Nene vs McGee

Post#1 » by Chocolate City Jordanaire » Fri Jan 18, 2013 10:42 pm

Washington's win streak was snapped at three in Sacramento. Wall vs Cousins had a not-so-good finish. Has the honeymoon phase come to end between John Wall and local media?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/wi ... story.html

Wall’s first two games of his season were a breeze, blowout victories that resulted in the most swagger-filled 7-28 team in NBA history taking on the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday at Sleep Train Arena. But that new attitude is the reason why the Wizards’ 95-94 loss was so disappointing, because Washington had the lineup that it has longed for all season but collapsed in the same fashion that has been the norm in Wall’s absence.

Turn the page… Tonight's opponent is a familiar trade partner. Javale McGee plays for Denver. Nene is a Wizard. I like Nene, when he's healthy. Wizards Insider, Michael Lee, writes that Coach George Karl likes Javale McGee. However, Karl wants McGee to be like Tim Duncan. :)

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wiz ... =pp_widget

“I think he’s a tremendous talent. I think he’s an incredible, athletic, 7-1, whatever he is,” Nuggets Coach George Karl said of McGee. “For me, I just want him to be more consistent on the fundamental area of basketball and more than anything, I want him to be more committed to the concepts and philosophies and fundamentals of our team.”

Who will win? How will Grunfeld feel about this? Will Pam McGee throw tomatoes at the Wizards? How will McGee play? Is Nene going to be a little peeved? (A current sports line has the odds Washington +10.5)

Bye bye Beal.

This is going to be a helluva challenge. Denver is really good at home, I'd be surprised if we lost by single points.

Seems like a great opportunity for the Wizards to pick up a moral victory.

Code: Select all

Last 5 Games

Washington                Denver
Jan 16 @SAC Loss 95-94    Jan 16 @OKC Loss 117-97
Jan 14 ORL Win 120-91     Jan 15 POR Win 115-111
Jan 12 ATL Win 93-83      Jan 13 GS Win 116-105
Jan 07 OKC Win 101-99     Jan 11 CLE Win 98-91
Jan 06 @MIA Loss 99-71    Jan 09 ORL Win 108-105

Washington has given up just 95, 91, 83, 99, and 99 points the past 5 games. That is an average of 93.4 points allowed. Washington has averaged 98.4 points. Wizards have been +5.0 points.

The Nuggets have won 4 of 5 by averaging 106.4 points per game. However, the Nuggets have allowed 105.8. The Nuggets have been only + 0.6.

This is a great game to take the Wizards with the points!

I think the Wizards will cover and probably win this game. Denver is not a grinding team. Washington runs better sets and they are much tougher than all but Faried and Koufus of the Nuggets.
Bye bye Beal.

The "Good Effort" kid is warming up his voice.

Kevin, I think the Wizards will surprise and take this game. No, I don't bet on games!

Karl will out-coach us. Yeah, I smell another moral victory. If i was a betting man i'd take Nuggets to win by less than 10 points. And i am a betting man, but ive banned myself from the credit card for a month.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

The win probability section at Basketball Reference pegs the Wizards chances of winning tonight at 19%. 1-in-5 chance? That seems about right.

Seems right to me but I am leaning toward the 1.

The points they're giving seem very generous, and like easy money if you care to wager.
Bye bye Beal.

This should be an exciting game. I expect Nene to have a huge game.

Iguodala/Lawson/Faried are nightmare for our guys. Expecting a 10+ point loss.

McGee will also be out to prove something.

I can't be the only person that thinks Nene isn't any good, can I?

Beal is our #1 option on this team. We truly don't have any scorers.
Just let the young boys play! It's truly the only hope at this point.

Because he missed his first three shots? Yes, you might be the only person isn't the world.

It's not just this game. He can't finish anymore. Nor can he play defense
