http://www.bulletsforever.com/2014/10/1 ... ards-ankle

Glen Rice Jr. leaves Wizards-Maccabi Haifa game with sprained ankle

The Wizards' fill-in shooting guard is also hurt, though it's unclear how seriously.

Wittman says Rice's right ankle is pretty swollen. The dreaded "Day-to-day" and will get tests tomorrow

Wittman says Glen Rice is day-2-day (ankle), says they will get him in a "contraption" tonight to get swelling down.

If Rice is out for an extended period of time, that leaves the Wizards with few options. We're basically looking at switching Otto Porter to shooting guard, playing Garrett Temple more, hoping Silas actually contributes after the one-game suspension or play Wall and Andre Miller together, a look Randy Wittman previously shot down.

Well I doubt rice will be out long. I am hopeful that he will be back by the end of preseason. Hopefully we are getting our injuries out of the way early!

Just have him sit out for the rest of the preseason and make sure he's healthy for Miami.

Kyle Weidie @Truth_About_It

Glen Rice Jr. has been assigned to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the D-League, per #Wizards release.

This is preferable to the former practice of having these guys be DNP's for long stretches of time.

Pity there isn't a coaching D-League.

With a three game losing streak, the Washington Wizards have assigned Randy Wittman to the Gainsville Gameclock Managers.

Seems now the only way GR JR is going to get playing time is if Temple has a high ankle sprain or something of the like, and he is too good of a guy for me to want that. Curse you randy.

DL is what he does well. He can gun it up as a first option down there.

I expect he gets back into form.

At that point while he is shinning more, I suspect they trade him.

He is another year or two away from being a player they would turn to and rely on off the bench backing up Beal. Besides, they have more talented players in Rasual, Webster and Otto who can do that.

As you can see from Rasual, you can pick experienced players to do that off the street for nothing.

Truth is, we need his roster spot to upgrade the rim protection or maybe a speedy small PG.

If its for a big, they have to move one of the bigs to do it. No sense in getting another big just to sit on the bench. Maybe Kevin is getting auditioned right now. Makes sense. He is a UFA next year.

If Glen shines enough down there again, someone might give up a high 2nd for him. Take a bath while the waters are warm.

Ofers as in 0 minutes played?

Temple is gonna be out of the rotation soon, esp when Webster gets back. Just like last year.

I don't know. Last year Temple played more minutes than Seraphin.

Can we recall GRJR from D-league, if Porter is out for an extended period of time?
O wait, Webster is coming back soon...

I just hope GRJR won't become our next JCrow.

You can hide Temple in the starting lineup, but when the bench is out there and Beal back in the starting lineup, you will eventually need some scoring from that position.

Temple isn't that guy, so it seems silly that you woulds send Rice Jr. to the D-league.

Yeah, I wonder what the coaches are seeing that would make them want to send him to the D-League?

With Glen Rice Jr. of the Washington Wizards a healthy scratch for a second straight game, the Mad Ants had two NBA-contracted players, both rookies: Noah Vonleh of the Charlotte Hornets and Bruno Caboclo of the Toronto Raptors.

Interesting nugget, will we see GRJR soon?

No. Not with Webster back. And is it ever a good sign when a D League player is a healthy scratch for 2 straight games?

Btw, Seth Curry is averaging 27 PPG while shooting over 50% from both 2 and 3 point range.

It's worth noting that Glen Rice Jr., a Washington Wizards prospect, was a healthy scratch for the second straight game. It would seem the writing is on the wall and he's being moved, but that's not official.

Sounds like GRJR has played for the Mad Ants for the last time... not sure if he's being brought back, traded or simply released (I hope not).

A team starving for wings will sign him once ERnie releases him.

So Wizards.

So Wizards.

The New Orleans Pelicans (still can't get used to that name) start Luke Babbitt at the 3 and have Austin Rivers and John Salmons (perhaps the worst rotation player in the NBA this season) as their prime wing backups. Jeff Withey played all of 9 seconds for them in their last game.
