Wizards Trade for Andre Miller

Post#1 » by Nivek » Thu Feb 20, 2014 5:44 pm

Looks like Vesely, Maynor and two 2nd round picks for Andre Miller.

UPDATED: Reports now are that it's one 2nd rounder. Apparently the one New Orleans owes the Wizards.

lol, 2 2nd rounders and a 6th pick in the draft and a player he couldn't wait to sign for a 37 year old backup PG.

Congrats to Ernie for unloading Maynor and Vesely for Miller. Don't know the length of Miller's contract though..

Perhaps this is a rental for the rest of the year. IIRC, we can save some $$ if we waive him before next season.

I like the move for their stated goal of making the playoffs. Don't like including the 2nd round picks.

Vesely and Maynor weren't helping. Miller will. He'll back up Wall, and play minutes with Wall.

It's cap neutral for the offseason if the Wizards decide not to keep Miller. His guarantee is about the same as what Maynor was owed.

WHich 2nds and if there's any protection is important for me to know in evaluating this.

That said, I am glad to have Andre Miller, Ph. D, in DC. I think he'll prove to be an upgrade at backup PG -- at least in the short term.

It is a classic Ernie cleaning-up his own mess move...once again....but we are rid of Maynor. Miller is a bit of a d*ck, hopefully he comes-in hungry.

Can we get an official source? I've heard maynor and ves and I've heard maynor and 2 picks. Nivek is reporting both.

And I'm OK with this move. Good luck Vesely in all your future endeavors. MJ is legal in Denver as it is in Prague.

Miller's guarantee is reported to be $2 million for next season. Maynor's 2nd year salary was $2.1 million.

Also, I'm seeing reports that it's one 2nd rounder.

Per wiretap, it doesn't look like we're the ones ponying up the 2nd rounders, unless the sixers got Maynor for nothing.

If it's one 2nd rounder and a salary wash for this/next season, it appears that the move is to make a stronger playoff push this season to save Ernie's job at the expense of one of our second rounders.

Yep, and ALdridge says "next year," so I think he means a 2015 second. Still waiting for clarification.

If it is indeed our '15 second (and not NOP's) then I really like the deal.
