1) I can't believe he's only 32

2) He was horrendous in very limited time (151 MP) last year

3) Previous to that he wasn't awful -- around average -- for a long time. Two years ago he put up a WS/48 of .116 and Ortg of 105 -- better than Nene's numbers this year. What's PPA say about him?

Many folks on Twitter called this. Gooden's agent Fegan is the agent for half the roster.

Meh, the D-League is a useful talent pool for guards and swing men, but you don't find good bigs there. In this situation, when we are looking for a stopgap guy who can get up to speed quickly, it makes sense to grab a vet who is still young enough to keep up in this league.

Whatever happened to Gooden anyhow? I know he was always a poor defender who usually put up decent, empty stats. But why did he fall off the face of the Earth two years ago? Injury?

Its a 10-day deal with 26 games left. We haven't played Porter or Rice all year. Do you really think they'd let a young D-Leaguer step in when they have an immediate need. It was going to be a player who had NBA experience.

Career PPA of 122. Peak was a decade ago. His production was pretty erratic. Had three good years from 2004-05 to 2006-07, then...a pronounced drop-off. Still reasonably productive, though apparently not worth whatever his personality issues are. His last full season in Milwaukee looks fairly productive statistically. His final year was a low-minute disaster.

He must have been a world class turd to essentially get run out of the league despite being tall, reasonably athletic, and with decent production.

Maybe being out of the league and facing his NBA mortality has scared him straight and he'll come in and behave for a few months. Sort of like our own ANdray Blatche :-)

I would rather give a 10 day deal to Tyrus Thomas or Earl Clark, I still think the D league is a better option, but Oh well let's hope he has a resurgence. . .

Well it's kind of hard not to see the animosity between Milwaukee and Gooden. They overpayed on him and wanted him gone as soon as the amnesty clauses got shipped out. Gooden knew he was getting amnestied last season.

All of Fegan's Wizard clients are already inked to long(ish) term deals. What remaining leverage does he have over EG?

I don't think Thomas is that much better than Gooden tbh. I would have preferred Clark too, but nobody has gone after him yet, so there might be something behind the scenes we aren't seeing. I figured he would have been one of the first people to get picked up after he was waived.

Can't you just hear it now....

By D league options, They mean some smart young assistant put together a nice folder of promising young athletic big's who might be able to help the team. He took it to EG and EG flipped through it for 5 seconds and he tossed in the trash and said. None of these players are over 30, now go get me a cup of coffee I have a phone call with Diop's agent in 5 minutes.

EG...........Diop.......................just.............no.................

Would it really hurt for the Wizards to give Tiny Gallon a look?

The was a run on Centers after the trade deadline, most from the D-League. I would
like to have seen Dedmon. Let's hope that Gooden doesn't see too-many minutes.

Jason Collins - Nets
Dexter Pittman - Hawks
Hilton Armstrong - Warriors
Dewayne Dedmon - Magic

Other (Forward/Center)?
Jarvis Varnado - Bulls (7'4" wingspan)
Arinze Onuaku - Cavs
