Harangody is not particularly big. He's 6'6". He's not an inside player -- he's a shooter. At ND, he took 6 3-pointers every 40 minutes. But he hasn't been able to translate that to the NBA's longer version of the 3point shot.

Nor did Harangody have "insane" numbers in the D League. He had good numbers, not great.

Luke was picked #52 in the 2010 draft. He had 3 years in the NBA and couldn't get anything done. He's looking for a job, but his job will be overseas not in the NBA.

I kinda wanna see Ian chiles play. 7 ft 2 and a late bloomer. supposedly good shooter. also happy about Duante Burton. I see he's the primary ball handler for the summer league team cause don't see any other pgs.
would have been happier about bryce cotton added on too but spurs outright signed him.

about khem birch. I like who he is. If you watch one of the dx interviews he's being asked what he feels about being a former high rated prospect to being a possible undrafted. He said he knew he was a few years away from being good. but he wouldn't change anything and he prefers the person he is now even if undrafted to the person he used to be even if that person was a high rated prospect. That said a ton to me. On the flip side even he doesn't feel he's ready..but at least I feel he'll have self awareness which will be important to developing

I would really love to see 2 maybe 3 players from the summer league brought on. Burton should be signed now, because he should have been a second round pick. then 1 or 2 of the big boys, Chiles/Miller and Birch/Orton/luke. As much as I like Luke I do not see him making the main team. We need a center prospect. We can not be caught with out back up bigs again. I think we need to carry a 15 man crew, and 2 or 3 of them should be from the summer league team, 1 should for sure be Burton.

Burton needs to be brought on board simply to give him a chance. We know what we're getting with Temple so we need to see what he has. I'd like to sign Birch cause he has two skills that should translate, help side defense with shot blocking and rebounding. He would be a good pairing with Gooden as he could live in the paint. It is fine if the team wants to bring back older vets, but they need to compliment them with some youth.

YUP, or we will just get run the **** down, before the playoffs hit! We made the playoffs last year do in part to fresh legs, that's why wee need some young guys, so we can keep fresh legs on the court.

Gotta feel for Otto and Glen there. They aren't gonna be playing with actual NBA players, it's just gonna be a bunch of chuckers trying to make the team and playing with no structure. Plus Al Harrington is a coach

Wayns is the only (significant) name on there that I hadn't seen before. Interesting - seems he was a rather highly regarded prospect at one time, but like so many others reduced to the role of journeyman hoping to catch on for league minimum.

Another good sign? Porter is listed as a "F". No, that's not the 2013 draft grade, but I am hoping it means we won't see any more of the disastrous experiment of putting him at SG. Rice, on the other hand, is listed as a "G". Those two should man the SF & SG positions respectively, logging 30 minutes or so per game. Everyone else competing for either of those two positions is superfluous.

I think/hope that the Wiz are giving Burton every chance to shine and possibly earn a contract for the upcoming season. He should be the primary ballhandler every time he's on the court, and outside of Wayns, I'm not sure there's even another wannabe PG on the roster. Hopefully he shows what he can do and makes it to the big club.

And finally, the Big man competition will probably be the most interesting of all. Will they even take all 4 of Birch, Orton, Miller, and Chiles to Vegas? How will they get enough minutes to evaluate them all? I suspect one of them (my guess is Chiles) will be released before the end of the minicamp. I certainly hope that at least two of them get training camp invites for the fall, and at least one gets a contract this year. I'm hoping for Birch because there's more upside possibility, but we do need to get some young assets on the roster.

It's sad, I fall into the trap every year, but I do love Summer League!

A couple names to keep an eye on (I.E. Guys who will make in the NBA for at least a cup of coffee). In order of who most interest me:
Deonte Burton - A little old and needs to work on Pg skills, but great athlete and defender who may become more efficient by not having to shoulder load as he did in college.
Daniel Miller - While Burton has a higher floor, I am really intrigued a little more by Miller. Physically, He has size, length, and decent explosiveness. Big men who can block shots, set screens, rebound, and score efficiently should always find a place in the league... Not the quickest, but he has improved every year.
- Could be fairly dominate in Europe for a decade.

Khem Birch - long and bouncy...dont know if he has skill to be stretch 4, nor the strength to go down low.
Daniel Orton - BIG Body, broad shouldered and decent athlete. Low IQ and no post game...
Kim English - 3pt specialist who didnt shoot it well early in NBA career..like beal..Not great physical attributes as defender, but has the "JJ Reddick hustle defender" attitude
Daniel Theis - Raw, but big, athletic and decent post game...

BTW, it looks like NBA TV is going to broadcast POR/NYK during that slot. My DVR guide claims that our game won't be broadcast until Sunday 7/13 @ 6 AM. :nonono:

Or, you can pony up the $15 and watch the games live on every device other than a TV.
Sunday, July 13
7:30 PM -- Washington vs. Minnesota

We're bumped for MIL/PHX. Our game's being broadcast on Monday 7/14 @ 9 AM.

Tuesday July 15
3:30 PM -- Miami vs. Washington

Bumped yet again: this time, for POR/ATL. Our game's being broadcast on Wednesday 7/16 @ 9 AM.

*None* of our "regular season" summer league games are being broadcast live. What are the odds!? Local fans should be okay; I think CSN is going to take care of you guys. But for the rest of us: even in summer league, the Wizards can't get a live game on a national broadcast.

#soWizards

Moreover: I'm a League Pass subscriber, and one would think that a Summer League Pass subscription would allow me to watch the games via my Roku (despite the fact that the League Pass streaming experience on Roku is terrible). But it looks as if the NBA didn't even bother to set up their crappy Summer League app for Roku or other streaming devices; it's just for computers and mobile devices. :nonono:

I like our summer league roster! A lot!
Clearly it's all about Porter and RIce,
But I think there are a few guy to watch that coulee make the roster. and this is how I rank the players not named Porter and rice. In reference to the chance they have of making the roaster.

A rank, Players who could legitimately make the roster.
Deonte Burton- he was the best player on a bad team and he was forced to be the guy. I think he will be able to show more of his PG skills and that will also open up opportunities for him to use his considerable scoring ability as well.
Daniel Miller - Good frame, good size, good defender, and he fills a huge need.
Daniel Orton- he has nice size and if you look at recent picture of him, the dude is jacked! He has gotten a lot better since he was drafted, if you look at his D league number, he is very promising.
Khem Birch- has the size and body to compete at a high level, offence can be learned later, but he could definitly replace booker and kevin with no problem at all.

B rank, Guys who have a chance but who are out classed by players on the list above, they would have to out play the players above or have some one in the front office fall in love with them to get a legit look, but you never know.
Daniel Theis- I can see him getting an invite on potential. He's big, and his euro league stats are decent for the minutes he plays. there might be something there.
Ian Chiles - has size, has a better offensive game than miller, but he is less of a defender, rebounded, and passer, does not move as well as miller either.
Frantz Massenat- decent skills, but he's a stat filler, probably won't have a real position in the nba, won't be good enough to run PG for long periods of time and won't be a good enough shooter to be on the wing.

C rank, These guys are roster fillers and really need to show a large level of improvement and progression to get a look for the main roster. They will probably end up back in the D league or over seas in Europe or China again this year. If they play any where at all.
Maalik Wayns- mediocre D league guard.
Christian Kabongo- Same as above
Kwame Vaughn-Decnet shooter in Europe last year, but not much else other than that.
Charles Garcia- Good size but had underwhelming numbers in the D league and over seas the past couple seasons, and I don't think he played at all last season.
Jarell Eddie- specialist, plus as we already said Porter and rice are going to take a lot of the time at his position. plus chances are we will probably end up bringing in a vet 3 before the summer is over.
Kim English- same as above.
Jamil Wilson- Same as above.

I'm just glad that with Burton we may have half decent PG play. It seems like again and again in Summer League our PGs have been so abysmal that half our possessions were a wash or simply turned over.
