I know you can't trade a coach for a player, but can you make them take your GM also?

Seriously if this deal happens, I think it ends up being for EG's favorite asset - Cash Considerations.

Newman as head assistant and the Durant assistant signing could have made the assistant coaching carousel a bit too crowded as well. Newman would obviously be Wittman's replacement.

Under the scenario I'd rather be under Doc Rivers in LA than Wittman in DC. Not much of a lateral movement, less assistants more exposure, possibly more success.

According to respective websites clips have 2 assistants (formerly 3 but Lue left). Wizards with the Maryland guy now have 8 (wow).

Interesting. I thought there was more room because Ryan Saunders left.

It may not be lateral. Doc may take over as GM full-time, and he may want Cassell to be his successor.

Well, if he's getting a head coaching gig, I wish him well. But until that HC job actually opens up, it'd be a lateral move. Sam is our top assistant and he's next in line for HC here if Randy gets fired.

Completely a lateral move and Doc isn't so old and accomplished that he is retiring from coaching - while Pop has more rings and is still grinding.

I say we trade Sam and Randy for Doc- We should throw in cash and Wiggins!

Ernie needs to play this right because it is a tough decision.
You can either get better now and get a second round pick for Sam or keep him around for his great relationship with the players and role as probable Randy Wittman replacement if he ever needs to be shown the door.

I'd ask for a high price on Sam to see if they bit, if not keep him. I don't know how much I trust Wittman to get us to where we need to go.

If Newman is our top assistant, and Doc is offering his top assistant role, it's unlikely that we'll get any compensation. Assistants getting promotions are usually allowed to leave.

If he wants to go hopefully we won't hold him up over compensation. Sam was good to the team in his time here. Good luck to him.

How valuable is a second round pick to us really? Our only recent decent 2nd rounder is Rice Jr. We didn't even keep and make our 2nd round pick this year. The Clippers are going to be choosingate in any case. I would hold out for a conditional 1st in 2016 or say no go.

But boss, I thought you said to include a pick and a prospect in every trade.

Yea, it would have to be a first rounder at least.

I'd trade Cassell and our 2015 second if that's what it takes to get their 2015 first.

Let him go. Let him go. You can't hold him back anymore.

If Cassell's replacement could discourage the team from taking so many 2pt jumpers, it might be worth paying the Clippers a 2nd round pick to take him.

Back from the witness protection program, Kevin?

Where you been?

I wouldn't be caught dead with Pine.

Mainly because he''s an expert in resuscitation and he travels with his own defibrillator.

Thank you!

I was starting to wonder if I was only one who wasn't particularly impressed with Sam Cassell. At this point, I think it would be best for Wall to learn from a new voice, specifically, a voice that wasn't telling him to shoot long twos.

I don't understand why Sam would want to make a lateral move. He's been a key part of helping to develop our guys and get us as far as we have. We've made such huge leaps in the last few years. Why leave for anything other than a promotion?
