Wall had a terrible game all in all, its very frustrating he continues to miss layups and late game free throws. He did facilitate well.
Typical Witt, Butler proves to have the hot hand in the first half and yet Temple comes out with the starters in the second half and Butler rides the pine the rest of the game. Not smart.
Seraphin sucks. If Temple and Seraphin don't get regular minutes we will be a better team going forward.
I really want them to give up on the long ball for Hump experiment. He just doesn't look comfortable from deep, hes effective within his range, leave it at that.
Nenes hops are gone, not sure if he can jump over a piece of paper at this point. He has been decidedly average this season.
I said this earlier in the thread, but I hope Wall Beal Porter Hump Gortat is the starting lineup in the future.
I really wish we had a big like Wright on the roster.
Agree with some of this.
Wall has improved in general and for the most part, I like what I have seen this year from him, but the parts that aren't working are killer in a game like this. Wall still have some mental/emotional issues to work out. Randy and Paul addressed that. Don't take this the wrong way, but Wall has a little RG3 in him. But with the right mentoring, I think he can evolve past it.
http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:11906655My personal view. I think the floater game is hurting Wall. Its throwing him off. Wall doesn't take well to failure, and his floater has been that. Its a touch shot and I see him dragging that over to his normal shot with shouldnt be a touch shot. You regular shot should be about mechanics and trusting them. I have seen way to many air ball from John this year. And way to many blown layups. Scrap the floater for now. Go back to basics. Actually, if he was to add anything, it should be a back down post game. As an aside, how he didnt post up JJ more like Miller was is a problem. Wall is no rookie. He has Miller to help him. Why he doesn't do that is concerning. And the missed FT at the end ? Again, mental issues. Drive, elbow, 3 ball and post up should be his offense. Scrap the float. He doesn't have that kind of offensive feel.
Add the hero ball thing at the end. Hey. I am all for a player that has confidence. But you have confidence in your strengths. Wall is not Curry or Beal when it come to shooting 3s. Hell, right now he doesn't have a scoring move he can be confident in. But if there was one, it would be the drive or the elbow. He shot to much on a night when other were shooting better and he had no business taking that last 3, even though he was wide open. Just a ego shot right there.
I was a little shocked to see Kevin return in the 2nd half and he was a nightmare in those minutes. Just a bad coaching decision to not go to Gooden or Blair. How someone so big can play so small is amazing.
Where was Rasual ? I have no idea. Another bad coaching decision. Rasual played great. Again.
The missed half court violation is baffling. There was a ref looking right down the line.
The other big concern. Letting guards just go off on us with their individual play. Monta is good but come on. And then watching JJ just toy with them and totally control the game. How does that happen ?
The good news. They still have room to get better. DAL played really well. We still need a rim protector. And we still need a pesky wing defender to guard little guards. I thought Russ Smith was a viable option for that. But we don't have the roster spot. One of Glen or Temple need to go. There isn't room for both. I say ship off Glen. Sure he has more upside, but big picture, he isn't a difference maker and the way he could be one, there isn't a role for that on the team. You can find bench players. And right now, its all about Wall, Beal and Otto developing. I would rather have a Russ and Khem on the team. Or Ed Davis.
But to be in a game where they had obvious mistakes that can get cleaned up and Beals first game back against DAL was an impressive showing. I think they can bet CLE. I had this as a lose anyway. Having it be a close one works in the grant scheme. Nothing to get to down about. Actually, it might help them win tonight.
