I think most have put all their eggs in skill building and negotiations for contract or control of their own careers.

The expression goes can't see the forest for the trees. I talked with as player who's played against current NBA players. Twenty seven year old guy from NC. He and I watch a lot of games, but if either of us were NFL or NBA players, so much time would go into practice, training, conditioning, travel, meetings with sgents, dealing with family and friends, getting tickets.....

Last thing I imagine I would do is comparative analyses of stats, various offensive and defensive stats, rosters and transactions, salary cap issues...

Man, if I had made the NBA before I had a personal relationship with God I would have had serious drama.

Years later, I wouldn't be knowledgeable about the game either, probably.

I agree, TGW.

Dave Joerger FTW.

I predicted years ago Joerger will coach a team to an NBA title.

Doclinkin threw his name out there years back. I looked at his coaching resume and concluded he's the best ever, potentially.

I'm a believer.

Their bench depth is better this year. Vince Carter coming back would be huge to add another shooter. Calathes is underrated defensively and is probably the best passer on that team 2nd to Gasol.

The Grizzlies are a top 10 offensive team this year. Along with being 4th in efficiency, that's the recipe for championship ball.

Also, I think the Grizzlies haven't lost a game at home within 5 points this year. Teams know MEM is going to slow it down and there's nothing you can do about. And MEM knows how to win by 1 or 2 points every night. Playoff basketball every single night.

My mom and dad were both born and raised in Memphis. My oldest sister lives in Memphis. I attended my first year of school in Memphis when my dad was in Vietnam.

I will be ecstatic if the Grizzlies take it all this season.

PS my Dad will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery soon. Will be there. Time permitting will maybe catch a Wizards game and commiserate with a few folks.

I went with several relatives there a few years ago - to take an 88 year old WW2 veteran (navigator who flew over 30 missions) there to pay his respects. It's truly a special place. If your visit is anything like mine, there will likely be many people there who will appreciate you listening to their stories - and hearing yours.

I'd be pretty scared to meet anyone off here. Would ruin the grand mental image I have of them. Like I actually think hands looks like Snoopy.

I get him every year in my fantasy league, and this is the first year it hasn't worked out well. He's at that age that it's hard to tell if he'll bounce back.

What's amazing is, Tim Duncan is their best player this season.

Pop is also starting Baynes over Splitter but the numbers suggest Splitter is still very good defensively.

And Cory Joseph has been much better defensively than Parker.

They need to throw that Kawhi ISO ball to the bushes and get back to what they do best. It's odd they just threw out what worked for them and are force feeding Kawhi and telling him to chuck just so they can tell him he's the future and he'll have to be doing it soon.

Holy crap! Westbrook had 39 points, 14 rebounds, 11 assists and 3 steals in 43 minutes last night against Phoenix. While that's an impressive line, what amazes me most is that he took 38 field goal attempts plus 16 free throw attempts. That's some serious shot jacking! He only made 12 of 38 shots which is a horrible 32% eFG%. His free throws got his TS% up to a not-quite-so-awful 43.3%

In the past 25 years, only 4 other players have attempted that many shots in 45 or fewer minutes of playing time: Kobe's 81 point game; Robinson's 71 point game; one from Shaq, one from Iverson, and 4 others from Kobe. Nobody has shot that much while posting a lower TS% than Westbrook.

Wow. Westbrook with 32+ FGA's in two consecutive games. That has never happened in the past 30 years (as far back as basketball reference keeps the stats). Kobe has never done it. Nor has Jordan, Shaq, Melo, Lebron or Iverson.

Return to Washington Wizards
