The nets, the knicks, also still possibly the lakers. We have some company.

Less likely at this point, but the Kings could also join that group if they manage to win their way, or even get leapfrogged in the lottery, to the 11th pick. They're currently in 9th spot and their pick is top 10 protected to the Bulls. And on the flipside, even if they do win the lottery, the Sixers have a pick swap with them and would likely take any top 3 pick they get.

Unlike the Lakers, the Wizards lack sufficient past or present success to justify the loss of future assets. Unlike these other teams, the Wizards lack the changes in management that acknowledge past failures. The Wizards stand alone.

Two of those three, and there's a possibility the third may go as well. Billy Knight is gone from Brooklyn. Whoever made the trades in New York (can't remember whether it was Grunwald or Mills) was replaced by Phil Jackson. Kupchak and Jim Buss could be ousted by Jeannie Buss this offseason.

Wasn't it Donnie Walsh in NY?

Nope. Walsh resigned as GM in 2011 (though he stayed with them as a consultant); the pick was traded in 2013. That was a Grunwald trade.

It's interesting how Grunwald's path in basketball resembles Grunfeld. I remember my first Street & Smith basketball guide featured Ernie as a college star and part of Ernie and Bernie with the great Bernard King at Tennesse. And Grunwald was featured as a High School All-American in that issue. Now Grunwald is following in Grunfeld's footsteps as a failed GM - and even did it in NY.

I believe the only one without any picks is the Knicks.

Brooklyn, Dallas, and the Lakers could join the club of teams without a first rounder.

But the point is...NOT MANY TEAM. Only the perpetually poorly managed would fall into this category. I wonder how many picks GSW and SanAnt have :)

The future is bright...

Well... lets say it's *clear*.
Breaking News: In a shocking development, Wizards owner Ted Leonsis has sold the NBA franchise to a consortium of participants in a discussion board devoted to the team on realgm.com. Details to follow....

I think we may see the last of the troll for awhile. I say good riddance.
