Very bad :(

The wiretap article mentions EG knowing about the issue ahead of time:

“During our discussions with Jared and his agent, Mark Bartelstein, we were made aware that he played with pain for a significant part of last season due to this injury,” said Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld. “After jointly consulting with our team doctors and several specialists, we collectively determined that this proactive approach was the best course of action to have him ready for the upcoming season and to prevent the risk of further injury.”

Dudley OUT 4 months following back surgery

Extremely bad, he has entire articles written about his tendency to gain a ton of weight. He was an obese teenager, and basically if he doesn't exercise excessively he gets fat. Horrible metabolism.

Oh well, I'll be happy to see Oubre get to see the floor.

This is, apparently, totally in keeping with Uncle Ted's "double bottom line" life.

I'm beginning to think BulletsForever is becoming another PR arm for the official organization itself. They have the audacity to tweet that trading for Jared was worth the risk....

even if they knew about the likely surgery?

They probably think Webster can still play NBA basketball which is delusional.

Otto, Anderson and Oubre better stay healthy.

They knew about the injury and still traded for him?

Ok...this offseason is getting more lame and pathetic as we go along

The name of the game in sports writing is access. Any sports writer who covers the Wizards needs to maintain access and maintaining access means never biting the hand that feeds you. It is only the opinion writers who will dare call-out a manager/owner/coach. Why? Because they don't need access.

SO ERNIE GRUNFELD!

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/238581/Wizards-Agree-To-Trade-With-Bucks-For-Jared-Dudley

Is the newly signed FA over 30? CHECK

Did the Wizards give up a draft pick to acquire the over-30 player? CHECK

The Washington Wizards have agreed upon a trade for Jared Dudley.

Dudley opted into his $4.25 million contract with the Milwaukee Bucks on the final day before free agency.

Dudley will help the Wizards replace Paul Pierce.

The Bucks will receive a highly protected future round pick that will almost certainly become a second rounder.

Back surgery? CHECK

Washington is a great team to come to when you've either just had back or knee surgery (Gilbert opted out and back in while very much injured) or you're heading to surgery.

This is SO ERNIE!

That crack Wizards medical staff probably knew about his back issues ...
Bye bye Beal.

I said when the Wiz got him - he had the same injury issues Webster had when the Wiz got him. Just be glad EG didn't extend him. And the only reason he didn't was hope for Durant, so there's an indirect benefit from going after Durant - cup half full.

I guess we didn't do our due diligence, huh?

:nonono:

Ernie likely shook his member at the urinal before he put it back in his pants. PERHAPS he said, "Well, Sessions came from Milwaukee .... Dudley's gonna work out!" Then he agreed to the deal. :)

That's about how diligent things went IMO.

(I'm just piling on. I like Dudley and thought it was a good signing. This is just Curse of the Bullets stuff here. This supersedes Ernie IMO)
Bye bye Beal.

:noway:

That pick will turn into a Clarkson is my guess, Ruz. This is going to hurt worse than at face value.

Maybe it gives Martell Webster some burn and the opportunity to earn a trade ...

No worries - Duds will be back with the team for the playoffs - so they can all watch the playoffs together.

That's a good point—as soon as the Washington Post started losing access to the Redskins, they went on anti-Redskins revenge tour. It was pathetic.

This is bad, Grunfeld got played by his former team. They should have to give back that draft pick.

They'll be ok, Anderson can also play at the 3.

Looks like the Dudley deal is a dud.
