Wall has played the entire game like he has no legs. I think the back-to-back after 38 mins last night has taken its toll.

No legs because he had two knee surgeries this summer and couldn't truly condition. Plus if you are on a minutes restriction that doesnt just translate to the game. It means he cant work do the hours of cardio to condition himself to be capable of performing at a high level on back to back nights. I know you all had to notice how rarely John Wall elevates above the rim now--- I am not saying he cant jump....im saying the freakish jumping ablity that he displayed in his first years has deminished to the point where his length and straight line speed are compensating for his lack of upward explosion. I "think" his leg injuries have contributed to this but I am only speculating.

Yup. If I want a chucker off the bench I want one who can actually make some shots not a Thornton.

That boy will get paid next summer.

Mahinmi does look squatty for a center.

He's fast though. He plays at a different speed than any of our other bigs. Twitchy athlete.

Mahinmy is going to be the worst signing of this past free agency period. He's a good for nothing.

While I hope you are wrong...there is the possiblity. He didn't exactly LIGHT IT UP against the spurs.

Mrs. Keynote was saying what my girl said at the game last night....she asked if he was our new "big" - I said he plays bigger than he looks....till he didn't.

It will be even more depressing if Mahinmi reverts back to career norms. A TS% in the .500 range, a PER around 10.0 & a wretched offensive player. Alas it will be all a part of the 'plan' according to Leonsis.

Mahinmi just came back from an injury. Let's give him a chance to regain his rhythm before criticizing him too much.

His contract is definitely an overpay, but I think he will be a quality reserve who helps us.

^this

He looked a bit lost on offense, but he set some great screens. A few more reps and training sessions and I think he'll make our bench a lot better.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Really!

nate33 wrote:His contract is definitely an overpay...

For sure, and I'd say you can look around the league and see quite a large number of terrible FA contracts from this off season.

Makes the point that there are really only two kinds of bargain contracts in the NBA -- rookie contracts and superstar contracts. Maybe you could add veteran minimum contracts, at least some of them (& where is Rasual Butler now that we need him? :) ).
Breaking News: In a shocking development, Wizards owner Ted Leonsis has sold the NBA franchise to a consortium of participants in a discussion board devoted to the team on realgm.com. Details to follow....

Mahinmi can probably help the first unit more than the second unit, though I'm curious to see how Gortat would respond to playing with those guys after publicly dogging them not too long ago.

If I'm coach Brooks I say put your money where your mouth is and hope that Gortat can give us that scoring edge and leadership the second unit needs.
