FIRE GRUN-FELD!!! FIRE GRUN-FELD!!!

Post#1 » by AWIZZINGBULLET » Sun Nov 27, 2016 12:18 pm

Can we start up a chant and/or make it a hashtag?

Scott Brooks, John Wall, and the fans deserve more than what the Wizards bench ---assembled by Grunfeld---is giving back.

This issue has been covered in the Boycott Wizards Tickets thread. Ted is the problem. EG won't get fired unless Ted feels enough financial pain.

Don't fire, just demote him or give him another job. Make him president of media relations since everyone seems to like Grunfeld the person.

I think EG as the problem has to become a story that the national media takes up. This way Leonsis can no longer pretend to be unaware of Grunfeld's deficiencies as a GM.

I think it's a lot easier to get fans to express their discontent with the Wizards' product by asking them to hashtag it versus asking them to not buy tickets --- which rarely happens regardless of how bad a team is.

As far as Ted is concerned, EG has done a great job for 12 years. Profits are up. Ted is making money.

But this year, things may change. The payroll has ballooned to $103M (and will rise next year to $115-125M if Porter is resigned). Meanwhile, ticket sales are down and the arena is half empty.

Really good analysis, Nate. You are quietly taking the baton from Kevin "Traitor" Broom.

He might be noticing some pain at this point.

Last night might not be the most fair indicator except the actual extent
to which the arena was so empty and so quiet. We had an interesting
'conversation' going with a few of the more vocal fans. I think it's
somewhat helpful that this conversation is going on well within
earshot of the print media covering the game.

When Smith came in and started missing shots I loudly spoke
out 'and we've got him for 2 more years!' which elicited groans
and condemnations of the brain (t)rust from those around.

Gave up hope ernie would ever get fired after the 2011 draft, I'd pay money to know what Ted sees in him as a team builder though.

He probably thinks about what the Knicks did in the 90s, and what the Bucks did in 2001, when they almost made it to the finals. Leonsis probably thinks about EGs role as team builder the Arenas years and the recent playoffs under John Wall.

Combine that with what nate said about Ted making money, and that explains the loyalty.

Past performance filtered by only looking for relative success and not the truth, the whole truth.

Never winning more than 47 games in an 82 game schedule speaks volumes. The current bench and that 2011 draft are very representative of this GMs talent, or lack thereof, as a team builder.

Terrence Jones was signed to a vet minimum 1-year deal. Ernie rushed-in with a 3-year $15,675,000 for a washed-up Smith. If Ernie doesn't get fired after his disastrous off-season, he will never be fired.
