Looks like a great pick at #42. Hope there are no issues with his buyout and he joins the team in the next few weeks.

Like the pick.

This front office is like the opposite of the last one. Crummy trades, good drafting.

Idk these big 7ft offence euro guys who's adamvances number are great but their game production doesn't show it much Almost never work out.

So, idk. I. Not mad about it. I can live with it.

Sounds like a Muscala-type with a ceiling of Markanen.

Simple Vukćeviç.

Or was it it Vukçević, or Vukčeviç?

I saw him comped as Vukovic? To me, he feels like a younger version of the guy we just picked up---Danilo Galinari.
I kind thought at first that Danilo was a throw-in that we'd end up letting go, but maybe if they also see Galinari in Vukcevic, that's a prototype they want to build with ...

Interesting you say this. I was thinking the same. Galinari could play the mentor role to Vukcevic. I like that he wanted to go to an NBA team where he could get playing time. To me, that shows that he thinks he can compete at this level, and will (hopefully) do what it takes to stay at that level. As a 2nd rnd pick, he gets no guarantees. He will have to work hard for it. That could be the driver. He should attend the big-man camps, and the Wizards should get a big-man coach. Who/where the heck are all our assistant coaches???

Before Beal was traded, I started watching highlights of the Heat version of this guy, Jovic. Seemed pretty similar from the few minutes of youtube I watched. Not super athletic but skill level pretty good.

I have no idea, but I do trust these guys more than Tommy. This would be a Travis Schlenk pick, right?

2020-2021 (18 years old)
12.3 points 6.5 rebounds 1.7 assists 0.9 steals 1.8 blocks 1.6 turnovers 40/38/70 shooting

2021-2022 (19 years old)
14.5 points 6.8 rebounds 0.9 assists 1.2 steals 0.2 blocks 2.0 turnovers 48/34/51 shooting

2022-2023 (20 years old)
17.2 points 7.4 rebounds 2.7 assists 1.3 steals 1.1 blocks 2.4 turnovers 56/37/80 shooting

Specifically his last 10 games with KK Partizan:
19.8 points 6.4 rebounds 2.2 assists 1.4 steals 0.8 blocks 2.5 turnovers 57/40/90 shooting

He fouls a **** ton, but he can shoot the lights out and shoot on the move, and out of the post/stepbacks. 7 foot shot creator. The rebounding doesn't worry me even a little bit, the pace of play in Europe is significantly different. Sabonis only averaged 8 rebounds per 36 in the ACB. Markkannen has turned into an impact player in the NBA while not being a high level rebounder.

Same as the Coulibaly pick, high floor based on being a solid role player in a good pro league at a young age, major upside. 7 foot shot creator with 50/40/90 shooting potential. Great pick.

The offensive numbers are encouraging, but his make or break skill will be defense. So far, his foul rate and rebound rate suggest he is unplayable defensively against NBA level competition.

I’m wary of comparing him to Sabonis. Sabonis had an unprecedented leap in per minute rebounding in his 2nd NBA season. Almost nobody does that.

“Vukcevic’s combination of size and shooting ability is extremely enticing as a potential floor-spacer and rebounder at the next level,” wrote Sports Illustrated in their draft profile.

“For now, he appears to be well on a solid path to get his name called at some point during the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft. However, he’s got the potential to even end up being a late first rounder with a good pre-draft process.”

Winner: Tristan Vukcevic, Brandin Podziemski, and Amari Bailey also impressed in scrimmages
Need a stretch five in this class? 7-foot Real Madrid center Tristan Vukcevic showed off his versatile offensive skill during a standout Wednesday scrimmage by scoring 21 points in just 16 minutes. Vukcevic barely played for Real Madrid this season, so his decision to play in the scrimmage could pay real dividends.

Tristan Vukcevic Draft Profile
As one of the most talented international prospects in the 2023 NBA Draft class, Vukcevic looks to build off of the success he’s had overseas and work his style of play into the NBA. At 6-foot-10, 220 pounds, he fits the mold as a quality stretch-four big man. His current draft value creeps just around a mid-second-round selection.

Strengths
Vukcevic is an abnormally strong finisher at the rim against bigger defenders. He might struggle early into his NBA career when facing double teams in the post, but he will have time to add more strength to his frame in his development. He’s a capable shooter from beyond the arc, and will certainly be an imposing offensive presence to pull defenders off out to the perimeter. He has a strong post-up game, especially against players of his size or smaller.

23 minutes of offense from TV. Some takeaways:

-Shot is really smooth obviously.
-Can shoot from 3 or midrange off the dribble.
-Moves well without the ball.
-Will attack closeouts aggressively. This is the thing that drove me nuts about bertans. He refused to attack closeouts so teams could sell out running him off the line.

I wonder if this is what caused him to fall in the draft. Some teams might have looked at him as a draft and stash player.

Vukcevic is looking for a team to pay his buyout and bring him over immediately, likely eliminating the option of signing a two-way contract.

Agreed. Posted about him all throughout the year, was one of my favorites.

Elite shot creation/shot making at 7 foot. Super competitive and high basketball IQ.

The question will always be whether or not he can switch and guard the perimeter OR play drop coverage and rebound, protect the paint. I think he’s more of a decently athletic 4 ala Lauri Markannen. Maybe not a closing lineup/playoff performer, but a highly useful regular season piece.

The Wizards should lock him up on a cheap 4-year contract now, they did it for Todd, I am betting on Tristan.

I'm fine with that! But put some opt outs on if he's the ****.
