The Terps had a quality win over the Iowa Hawkeyes today. The team is a little better than average.

It was good to see the D-line be stout most of the game. Kilgo and Monroe were dominating at times. The running game was very solid. Playmakers Diggs and Likely had big plays. Cole Farrand was solid.

If they can win three more regular season games this will go down as a very successful season.

Interesting. Here's what I see on the web about him:

http://espn.go.com/college-sports/baske ... n-brantley
https://rivals.yahoo.com/basketballrecr ... ley-127029

This guy can play. If both Florida and Missouri showed interest, Jaylen Brantley's the real deal.

http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/terp ... story.html

Brantley, who committed Monday to play for the Terps beginning next season, said he has “always been playing with a chip on my shoulder” since his days on the same Boston-based Amateur Athletic Union team with future Maryland teammate Jake Layman.

Considered a four-star prospect in high school, Brantley’s career was derailed by an academic issue. Brantley said several high-major programs, including Virginia, backed off when they learned he was one high school core class short of being eligible for Division I.

Odessa College coach Tra Arnold only has seen Brantley in practice thus far, but he believes Brantley is a high-major college prospect.

“He's a really steady point guard that doesn't turn the ball over, that gets his teammates involved, that can run your team.” said Arnold, whose previous point guard, Josh Gray, is now at Louisiana State.

Despite Brantley’s size, Arnold said he “can get to the rim.” And though he is considered a pass-first point guard, Brantley “is a really, really good shooter,” Arnold said.

Turgeon is not allowed to comment on Brantley until after he signs his national letter of intent next month.

He's still not signed on the dotted line. Even after that, they better make sure this kid doesn't steal from a local 7/11.
Bye bye Beal.

Brantley is a 5-foot-9 point guard with deep range on his jumper. He was on an official visit to the campus this weekend, along with Maryland’s top target, five-star center Diamond Stone. Brantley will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Bye bye Beal.

Albeit a juco, Brantley's name rings very familiar. He teamed with star center Nerlens Noel on the travel circuit for Boston-based BABC, a squad that also included future Maryland teammate Jake Layman.

By far, the 5-10 sparkplug's greatest asset is his quickness. Brantley boasts a very quick first step and is tough enough to slice into the paint despite his lack of height. He likes to make plays for others yet also can score himself on short running bank shots.

Maryland will rely heavily on freshman combo guard Romelo Trimble this season, and Brantley will help alleviate some pressure beginning next year. Because Trimble is a bigger, stronger guard who's also a fine outside shooter — and who can defend opposing wings — he and Brantley should complement each other very well.

The Terps also remain hot on the trail of top-five center Diamond Stone, who visited Maryland officially this past weekend as well.
Bye bye Beal.

Not surprising. QB play was/is the real issue.

Ugly display of poor sportsmanship sours the win over Penn State.

There's more to it than that.

Frankin has been talking alot of smack for months about Maryland.

And to add to it, PSU players "supposedly" walked through Maryland's pregame warm ups.

Basically they (and their coach) have been disrespecting us for months now....

James Franklin referring to Maryland:

From the Baltimore Sun:"I consider this in-state. I consider New Jersey in-state," Franklin told the crowd. While there are other schools in the region, "they might as well shut them down because they don't have a chance."

I knew about the smack talk. If they walked through the pregame warm ups the media needs to hear that. Maryland took a HUGE HIT in terms of public relations.

Go over to non-Terp message boards. Yahoo and other sites are portraying Maryland as the ass end of the Big Ten, with a large majority of folks criticizing only Maryland players. I didn't know about the pregame--that really set the tone for the hand shake. THAT is relevant--not what Franklin's been chirping.

Perception is reality. Maryland looked the fool. I got arrested for reacting once. NOBODY gave a damn about what happened to me. I looked like the fool. Gotta be smarter than to not shake hands. It's really unfortunate. I guarantee you this will get Edsall in hot water.

As someone who grew up watching Penn State destroy Maryland in football year after year - great win for Maryland. Apologies were made by MD head honchos over the lack of handshakes - it's no longer an issue, imo.
