What I wrote about Young was over the top.

What I believe Young is well within his right to do is to approach Jamison or Butler and to flat out tell them he believes he's far more effective than DeShawn right now. Also, that any attempts to prove a point by benching him only point out the unfairness of sticking with Stevenson through countless mistakes.

If I were Young I'd also bring up Mike James' minutes. I'd flat out ask for a trade if I were Young. He's better than the Wizards are playing him.

And I'm not a big Nick Young fan, either. He's getting screwed right now.
Bye bye Beal.

I think trading Daniels was a good idea long term, problem is it left us the no true pg.

James & Dixon are undersized 2's being asked to run a team, not a good fit

Stevenson, NY & Critt are 2's, good size but they are and will always be 2's

That is a big part of the reason the Wizards are so bad right now

actually i think dixon runs the show pretty adequately. james is managable on offense also. Both get screened of pretty easily though.

i've also noticed a lot more switching on picks instead of fighting through. fighting through screens vs switching on screens is my little litmus test of what kind of defensive system you've got, and what kind of players you have.

Deshawn Stevenson is committed to dominating all shooting categories. I don't think he liked the fact that he merely ranked as the 16th-worst in FT shooter among guards in NBA history. That's an insult. So tonight, with his 2-8 performance from the line, he has clawed his way up to 6th place on the list. His average plummeted to .557, tying him with Gerald Wilkins.

Here's the list:

Rest assured, he remains on top of the list as the worst shooter from the field in NBA history.

But so many people said that the contract he signed was a reasonable one. How could they have been so wrong? Oh, that's right, he only plays at an NBA level if Arenas is on the court attracting all the attention. Seriously, Stevenson has never been a good player. He was a good deal at the minimum. He should not see the light of day on the court until he is healthy, mentally back in it, and his meal ticket Gil is on the court with him.

Look at the results:

I thought it was bad, but I didn't realize it was this bad. Deshawn Stevenson is literally the worst shooter in NBA history.

So it's been 50 years since "Slick" Leonard reached this level of shooting ineptitude? Guess we can start calling DeShawn "Mr. Fifty" again.

Glad someone noticed how amazingly sucky Deshawn is.

Take a look at this. He's #28 in the league in 3 pointers hoisted, and 5th worst among the guys in the top 50 3 pointers attempted.

Dude... can.... not.... shoot.

I couldn't let this thread slip off the first page.

Here are Stevensons pace-adjusted per-40 numbers over the past 10 games:

Code: Select all

Player           PTS  REB  AST  STL  BLK   TO eFG%  TS%  PER
stevenson,desha  8.2  4.4  3.8  0.6  0.3  2.7 .366 .376  2.5

A PER of 2.2. Just 8 points in 40 minutes.

Unfortunately, he's not even very good in the turnover department. You commit turnovers when you pass and when you attempt to score. A/TO rate isn't really a very good measurement because it doesn't credit guys who take care of the ball while scoring. It only credits guys who make assists without turning it over. Turnover percentage is a better stat. It basically tracks the number of turnovers relative to the number of possessions (a possesion meaning a shot, a foul drawn or an assist).

Stevenson's turnover percentage isn't that impressive. Among the 29 players, 6-4 to 6-6, averaging 25 or more minutes per game (starting shooting guards, basically), Stevenson ranks 17th in turnover percentage.

There's at least one number from Stevenson over the past five games that gives a glimmer of hope:

38
33
32
26
15

Hard not to feel at least a little good about those minute totals. If it keeps up, we can get him down to zero! Then into the negatives, where we preemptively bench him in future games.
