Here are your nominees from tonight's win against the New Jersey Nets....

Image
Caron Butler - 22pts (9-16) / 5rebs / 10asts / 37mins / +13

Image
Antawn Jamison - 22pts (10-19) / 8rebs / 1asts / 31mins / +25

Image
Nick Young - 12pts (5-8) / 1reb / 2asts / 20mins / -2

Image
DeShawn Stevenson - 21pts (7-13) / 3rebs / 5asts / 27mins / +22

Image
Dee Brown - 8pts (3-5) / 3rebs / 7asts / 2stls / 25mins / +23

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Rules

Here's the deal - after each win, we'll have a player of the game thread. You post the top 3 performers (1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place). The top-3 vote-getters will receive points...

1st place = 3pts
2nd place = 2pts
3rd place = 1pt

At the end of the season, I'll tally up the point totals and put it into a thread. We should have a good idea of who was the most valuable player, at least according to Wizards fans. :D

The poll winner is for posterity only. It has no affect on the recorded winner. If you want your vote to count, post the top-3 performers.

1.Stevenson
2.Butler
3.Jamison

Stevenson was on fiya. Butler had a solid 21 pts 10 ast 5 reb. Dee Brown played well at the point, played decent defense, passed well, and made his treys.

McGee needs to be playing more, but I wont complain since its only a dozen or so game into his rookie campaign.

McGuire can rebound and defend well, but his handle and offense stink at this point.

Daniels and Songalia have looked better the last few games.

The refs treat Blatche like crap.

No Etan was good to see.

Young had a solid 5-8 fg night in only 20 min.

1. Can't Feel My Face
2. Tough Juice
3. Dee

Loved all the assists with players making the extra pass. Something that was rarely seen in the EJ era to that extent.

It helps that apparently the Nets 3 point defense is even worse than ours which isn't surprising for a team with Vince.

Deshawn
Dee
Butler

C'mon, Dee Brown hitting 2-3 from 3pt land? 7 asts? How many points did Devin score? You gotta give some love to Dee, that was the best game of his career so far. Hopefully he'll have many more like it.
Help us, Obi-wan Leonsis. You're our only hope.

1. Butler
2. Jamison
3. Stevenson

I'm not going to sit here and praise Stevenson for showing up one game when he has been absolutely terrible all season. Butler and Jamison bring it every night and they brought it tonight too. They deserve more credit.

I voted AJ because he had +25 and that is impressive.

Then I would have voted Caron
Then DeShawn
Then Dee

Great game by everyone, though

This is a player of a game thread so I have no problem giving it to Stevenson. If that's the case, then people shouldn't have voted for Andray Blatche when he had his best performance against the Warriors.

I almost voted for Dee Brown just because he actually made a shot. But I had to give it to DeSwish. Hopefully this means he's back to his old self (slightly below average instead of amazingly sucky).

I agree with all of this. Dee Brown, particularly in the 2nd half, was good... but DeMoney continually hit the shots that buried the Nits.

I think the difference is that Blatche was totally dominant in that Warriors game. He was everywhere at both ends of the court. He might end up with the best stat line of any Wizard player this year. Deshawn merely had a mildly above average game

Deshawn's line of 21 points, 5 assists and 3 boards doesn't really impress me that much. I don't see why he deserves POTG over Butler (22, 10 and 5) or Jamison (22, 8 and 1). The only difference between what Deshawn did and what he is expected to do is that two more of his three pointers fell into the basket. He was 5-8 from three point range. If he goes 3 for 8 (37%) like any normal guard, he would have finished with a completely ordinary stat line of 15, 5 and 3.

DeShawn played only 27 minutes while Butler played 37 minutes. And if Stevenson receives the blame for not slowing down Brandon Roy, he should get credit for limiting VC to only 6 points in the 1st half.
